Help shape the future for local kids!! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿง’

Help shape the future for young people in the Wingecarribee. We're developing our next Youth Action Plan and after a successful Youth Forum in June, we're keen to hear from more young locals to understand what you need to help you thrive, succeed and contribute positively to our region.

One of the simplest ways to do this is to fill in our Youth Survey - it's quick, easy, online and open until Friday 2 August. Share your ideas here ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://participatewingecarribee.wsc.nsw.gov.au/nextgen-wingecarribee-youth-action-plan

Your voice matters - we'd โค๏ธ to hear from as many youth as possible.

โœจ Unlock the Power of Incidental Exercise! โœจ

Did you know that even small bursts of activity throughout your day can add up to big health benefits? Thatโ€™s the magic of incidental exercise! ๐Ÿ’ช

One simple strategy is to park a bit further from your destination to add extra steps. Choosing walking over driving, like getting off a stop early, can also boost your daily steps. Opting for the stairs instead of the lift offers a quick leg workout, and standing more often helps cut down on sitting time.

Enjoy a walk during your lunch break or while grabbing your morning coffee. Engage in gardening and home maintenance, as repetitive movements work your muscles. Regular cleaning can become a mini workout and keep your home tidy. Donโ€™t forget to take your furry friend for a daily walk and enjoy some fresh air.

Incorporating these small changes can make a big difference in your overall health and fitness. Every step counts, so get moving and feel the benefits! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿคฉ CLIENT OF THE MONTH ๐Ÿคฉ

Here is our client of the month for JUNE ๐ŸŒŸ

Eli has been working with Daniel for just over a year now. He has been very successful in working towards his goals of building strength and muscle tone. Eli is super motivated and is currently working through an upper body/lower body split program 4 days per week.

Eli is always willing to learn, and takes on new exercises and feedback like a sponge. Keep up the hard work Eli!

Daniel has been graphing his progress in a few of their objective assessments over time. Take at look on the next slide to see (special mention to more than doubling his Leg press and Seated Row 10 repetition max ๐Ÿคฏ)

Well done Eli! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ…

๐ŸŒธ Harness Your Cycle for Optimal Training! ๐ŸŒธ

Ever wondered how your menstrual cycle impacts your workouts? Understanding the phases can unlock your full potential! ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

During menstruation, your hormone levels dip, making it the perfect time to listen to your body and prioritise recovery. As you transition into the follicular phase, you'll feel a surge in energy and strength, thanks to rising Estrogen and testosterone. This is your moment to ramp up your training intensity and push yourself further.

When you hit ovulation, you're at your peak! Elevated Estrogen levels mean peak performance, high energy, and increased tolerance to fatigue. It's the ideal time to challenge yourself and set new personal records.

As you move into the luteal phase, your body prepares for menstruation, and hormone fluctuations may bring mood swings and fatigue. Adapt your workouts to match your energy levels, focusing on moderate intensity.

By aligning your training with your cycle, you can maximise your performance and well-being. Embrace the power of your cycle and let it guide you to new heights! ๐ŸŒŸ

Allan has been working with Erin at Effect for just over 12 months now. We have seen his strength and mobility progress out of sight over the past 12 months and we are so proud of his progress! ๐Ÿ’ช

We love seeing Allanโ€™s smiley face in the clinic throughout the week. We love hearing about what he has rigged up over the weekend to complete his chores. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We canโ€™t wait to see how Allan will continue to progress, even if we got some excellent eye rolls when we ask him to complete a challenging exercise ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well done Allan! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ†

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Spine and Brain Tumour Awareness Month ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Last month, we united to raise awareness about spine and brain tumours. Together, we honoured the strength and resilience of those affected by these conditions and emphasised the importance of early detection and research.

๐Ÿง  Our brain is vital in exercise physiology, controlling muscle movement, balance, and coordination. Understanding and supporting individuals with spine and brain tumours is crucial. Let's continue to spread knowledge, show compassion, and advocate for advancements in treatment and care.

๐Ÿ’› Thank you to everyone who contributed to raising awareness and supporting this important cause. Your efforts make a difference every day.

20/06/2024

Children aged 5-17 should be completing at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise each day. This is an accumulative amount and can be broken up throughout the day.

Children should aim for 3x muscle strengthening exercise sessions per week.

Ensuring 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity allows for positive improvements in cardiovascular, metabolic and neurological health and development, setting children up as best as possible as they continue to develop.

Light to moderate activity should be completed throughout the day, this type of activity would encompass incidental exercise that children complete when moving around at school or playing with friends.

Limiting recreational screen time and breaking this sedentary time up as much as possible is recommended.

Does your child reach the minimum guidelines for exercise?

Do you need assistance to create a healthy physical activity routine?

An Exercise Physiologist will work with you and your child to find the most appropriate way for your child to hit these goals.
