The Priority Health Group welcomes Dr Rajvir Singh to our practice. Dr Singh is an Australian trained medical graduate from Monash University and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of GPs.

PHG searches Australia wide to secure the best talent to ensure we continue to provide high quality medical care.

Dr Singh completed her medical training at Monash University in 2008. She has worked in hospitals across metropolitan and regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland before specialising in General Practice. She holds a Diploma of Child Health from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University, New York.

Dr Singh is passionate about all aspects of general practice, but has particular interest in preventative health, women's health, mental health and chronic disease management.

Dr Singh is a highly skilled and compassionate GP who will be with the practice for an initial 8 week locum placement.

Priority Health Group is developing innovative ways to bring to more services to our community with the successful trial of our hybrid service delivery model.

Dr Tim Cheng offers on the day Video and Telehealth appointments as well as in clinic appointments on a regular basis.

He is a specialist GP with an interest and significant experience in medicinal cannabis. As an authorised prescriber for medicinal cannabis, he has treated patients with a wide range of conditions. Tim is trilingual and can hold consultations in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He has successfully founded CannaAid Medical www.cannaaidmedical.com.au/ (website), where he assists patients to access medicinal cannabis for their condition(s) via telehealth.

Some of the conditions that can be treated with medicinal cannabis include:
Chronic non-cancer pain including endometriosis
Cancer pain and symptoms
Neuropathic pain
Chemotherapy related nausea/vomiting
Anxiety/Depression
Palliative Care

Part of the original 3 Dr Preena finishes up with the Priority Health Group after completing 6 years of community service in the Central Highlands.

Some memories over the past 10 years. I came to Emerald in July 2013 for a 6 month General Practice rotation. 10 years on despite the many challenges of delivering healthcare in rural and regional Queensland PHG provides vital Primary Health, Skin Cancer, Occupational Health and Disability care services to patients in our region.

Over 32 000 active patients. Seeing upto 200 patients a day. 5 full time Doctors. 6 full time nurses. 5 full time admin/ IT support staff.

An incredible and shared achievement with our staff who constantly put our patients above self interests to ensure we continue to deliver high quality healthcare.

Saru Chifadza our MD, Narendra Varsani IT Director, Jyothi Varsani Business Manager and Kastur Varsani our Finance Director ~ the behind the scenes team who work 24/7 to ensure the practice is operational 7 days a week. I am blessed to have these people support our vision.

Thank you for your commitment and support to our patients and my journey in Emerald.

With 4 new Doctors arriving over the coming 6 months our patients will have greater choice and improved availability to access appointments.

PHG are excited to announce the recruitment of 4 new full time GPs to our clinic and region. The practice continues to attract high caliber GPs who have committed to provide a long term commitment to our practice and community.

It takes 24 to 36 months to complete the recruitment cycle with the practice and our GPs having to complete a rigorous onboarding and approvals process.

Dr Varsani, Practice Principal and Supervising GP continues to provide a vital training commitment to the region having trained 3 RACGP Fellows with a further 3 to complete their Fellowship training this year.

Although recruiting GPs to the bush remains challenging PHG continues to provide a high quality teaching and supported learning environment for International Medical Graduates seeking to establish and develop their skills in Rural Practice.

New Doctors expected to commence from June 2023.

I am excited to see Saru come back as a Sponsor from Kuremara.
