U12s Sponsored Walk

7 miles in memory of Rob Burrow

No rest for our 12s on the back of their County Cup final win as this Saturday they will be taking part in a sponsored walk to aid their fundraiser for the MND charity.

It will be an early start for the group, meeting at Mungrisdale at 8am, with the walk starting not long after.

So far they have managed to raise over £2300, a fantastic effort! The link for the go fund me page will be in the comments below for anyone who might like to donate.

A word from the Chairman, Mark Ridley

I've just returned from Lowca where our U12 won the Cumbia Cup. This is, I think, the first Silverware won by the Hornets since we won the Carlisle league in 1983/4 season. I am delighted, as Chairman, to be associated with a club where everyone concerned showed a more established club how to conduct themselves. A big thank you to everyone involved, parents, coaches, spectators and last but not least the lads in Black and Amber today.

Best of luck to our U12s this morning as they take on Kells in the Cumbria Cup Final at Lowca. Our game will be a 10am kick off.

‘OLD BOYS’ Reunion Day 2024

We will be hosting a past players reunion day after our home fixture against Lowca in July. Our junior teams will also be taking to the field in the lead up to the first team game!

Please share and let anyone who might be interested in attending and may not have social media know so we can get as many there as possible! 🐝

Aspatria Hornets 12s snatched a last minute victory away to Hindpool Tigers when Tom Hodgkinson streaked away for a full length try that cemented the victory after Hindpool levelled the scores at 22-22.

A massive thank you to Hindpool for their hospitality and to all the parents and fans who came to support. Last, but not least, to Spencer Graham Coaches for getting us there and back in style. 🐝

HORNETS DO DODD WOOD 🐝

On Saturday 15th June the first team lads will be making the most of a weekend off and going up Dodd Wood for a team building exercise.

Anyone is welcome to join, we will be leaving the Letters at 11am, but all adults will be asked for a donation of £5 to support the Under 12s MND fundraising campaign.

U12s RESULT 🐝

Kells gained revenge for the 18-16 home loss to Aspatria with their own 18-16 triumph this evening in a pulsating game at Beacon Hill in front of a very large crowd.

Both teams went hammer and tong in a superb advert for Under 12s rugby.

Aspatria grabbed tries via Anthony Hamilton and Will Beverley (2) with Hamilton adding 2 goals.

Defeat in the semi final of the Amateur Cup but a fantastic effort from 1-17 on Friday night 🐝

U12 RESULT 🐝

Aspatria U12s secured a valuable away victory yesterday overcoming a determined Maryport side 44-4.

The tries came from Riley Oliphant, Archie Hamilton, Joseph Pattinson, Tom Hodgkinson (2) and Will Beverley (3).

Oliphant added a goal and man of the match Anthony Hamilton adding 5 more.

Thanks to all our parents and fans for making the trip. 🐝

In memory of Gerry 🐝

Great win this afternoon in our first game back at Beacon Hill. Best of luck to Flimby Vikings ARLFC for the rest of the season.🐝

The club would like to thank the Flimby players and the referee for their part in a minutes silence to pay respects to Gerry Sewell who sadly passed away earlier this year, with this being our first chance to pay our respects to a club stalwart.

Tomorrow’s team to take on Flimby Vikings ARLFC.

Both teams have agreed for an extra sub meaning Luke Day will also be on the bench for us as 18th man 🐝

Under 12s Result 🐝

The 12s were pipped in a ding-dong battle with Wath Brow this evening, 8-4.

In awful conditions, both teams played some good rugby in a tough contest.

The Aspatria try came from debutant, Tom Hodgkinson.

Thanks to all the parents and fans who braved the weather.

‘Call it out’ is the title of Cumbria Police’s ongoing campaign and initiative to raise awareness of the issue of violence against women and girls.

The RFL is working in partnership with Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC), Police, Cumbria Family Support, Barrow Raiders RLFC, Workington Town RLFC and Whitehaven RLFC, to support this competition for Rugby League teams who raise awareness of violence against women.

Everyone at Aspatria Hornets wants to call out all violence against women and girls and reiterate that it has no place in any community.
