We're delighted to introduce our girls academy opening this December in North Dublin.

The academy is open to girls aged 8-15 years old who would like to train and play modern football inspired by the excellence of the Johan Cruyff philosophy.

Women's football is currently the fastest growing sport in Ireland and we're excited to play our part in developing the players of the future.

This morning we received the deeply sad news that our good friend and colleague Darren Egan had passed away peacefully after a short illness. A valued member of our coaching team in recent years, Darren will be dearly missed by everyone at Total Football Academy.

Darren was genuinely one of a kind. A mild, modest, hardworking man. A family man. A man who always made time to say hello and talk to people.

Darren's passion for the game of football and his gentle words of encouragement will not be lost on the hundreds of children, both boys and girls, who were fortunate to call Darren their coach. He will be remembered fondly by all those who witnessed his unique coaching qualities during his tenure at Total Football Academy, Aisling Annacotty AFC and Limerick Desmond Schoolboys / Girls League.

Football has lost two legends of the game this week, Diego Maradona and Darren Egan.

We'd like to offer our sincere condolences to Darren's family, especially to his wife Georgina and his four children. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this deeply sad time.

Rest in peace and may God bless you, Darren. Until we meet again, our friend.

Our friends at Playing For The Future Academy in Northern Ireland have kindly extended an invite to our academy players and parents to attend an online training session with UEFA A licenced coach, Ross Redman.

All that's needed is a football, a bottle of water, and a designated space to perform the exercises at home. ⚽🍶🏡

Everyone at Total Football Academy would like to congratulate our former academy member Leo Gaxha on signing his first professional contract at Sheffield United 🔴⚪⚫✍️

Tralee native Leo has spent the last two years on a scholarship at the Premier League club, primarily playing for the Under-18s, before recently breaking into the Under-23 team. On March 6th, the 17-year-old forward scored his first goal for the Blades' U23s against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

We wish Leo all the best upon his return to football post Covid-19.

COVID-19 UPDATE | In line with advice from the Government and the Department of Health in respect of efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, and in an effort to insure the health and safety of our members and their families, Total Football Academy is postponing its weekly academy training at the Delta Sports Dome with immediate effect until March 30th at the earliest.

Starting off the first full week of work of 2019 with some great news!

Dara Costelloe signing his contract with Galway United F.C. for the new season. I've been lucky to work with Dara twice in the last 2 years , firstly with Aisling Annacotty AFC and Total Football Academy and most recently had the task of prepping him during his off-season. We've been working together for about 5/6 weeks now and every week things are looking better.

It's never about claiming credit for 'developing them' or being the person that moves them on to the next level but it's fantastic to he involved in the process and hope he does well!

No doubt he will ⚽️ onwards and upwards into 2019 🏋🏽‍♂️⚽️🔥

Having made his international debut for the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 Under-16s in Sweden 🇸🇪 last Friday, Total Football Academy graduate Leo Gaxha will be joining us for this afternoon's academy training at the Delta Sports Dome.

A member of TFA for almost four years since the age of 12, Leo recently signed a three year contract at Sheffield United Football Club in England.

Leo will be on hand to meet our Under-11s and Under-12s from 4-6pm this afternoon. We've also convinced him to bring his boots! 🏃⚽

✍ We're delighted to announce that our academy graduate Leo Gaxha has signed a three year contract at Sheffield United Football Club 🔴⚪⚫

Leo joined Total Football Academy as a 12-year-old in 2014, and represented TFA on numerous trips to the UK and Holland throughout the last four years.

Having participated in a successful trial period at the South Yorkshire club in recent months, Leo will move to Sheffield full-time in July, linking up with the Blades' Under-18s for the next two years of his development.

As our first graduate to sign for a professional club in the UK, Total Football Academy is immensely proud of Leo's achievement. We'd like to wish Leo all the best at his new club and we look forward to following his progress next season.

An interesting insight into the training methods employed by Manchester United's academy which aided Marcus Rashford's development.

One example is the several cage pitches United built to recreate school playground learning, where older and younger players would compete in small spaces.

Former youth coach Paul McGuinness revealed, “They would play 8v8 or 7v7 to increase their speed of thought and improve their skills. "At 12, Rashford was playing cage football with Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison, who were 16. “He learned from them, but he could also express himself more. With his own age group he might only play a single one-two, but with Pogba, he could play two or three.”
