Recent Patient Testemonial:

Hi Ed. I didn’t really get a chance to properly thank you for everything that you have done for me. I am beyond thankful for discovering the benefits of acupuncture and what you have personally done for me. I am amazed that after 30 years of dealing with daily pain that I have found something that really works. It’s been life-changing for me! I had my first acupuncture appointment here at home so I plan on continuing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you 🥰

Just in! Zheng Xie Gu Xui. This is an upgraded Zheng Gu Shui that I have used for myself for over 20 years and so many of my patients love, but on steroids. Small batch artisan made in the USA from the finest "imperial grade" herbal ingredients.

Only 24 bottles in and selling fast.

Common uses for Evil Bone Water include:

Incidental Injuries (particularly sports injuries)
Joint Pain
Spinal Pain
Muscle & Ligament Pain
Bruising
Sprains
General Pain
Cuts & Insect Bites

“The power of Evil Bone Water is that is actually helps the problem instead of just patching up the symptoms.”

NB: Zheng translates as "good" and Zheng Xie loosely translates as "good and evil". Drive out the "evil" (injury/inflammation) and restore the good (nourishment and healing).

They are larger bottles than the original and they go a long way!
$49 (US retail is $40)

I just had to share this one.

Bladder Channel or “Foot Tai Yang” is also the “posterior chain” of interconnected muscles, nerves and fascia. Pain in one area along the channel can be triggered by another and therefore also relieved by working on the same.

Sometimes nothing quite works like the needle! They just need to be in the right hands.
This hard working mother with a young infant came to me for acute neck and shoulder pain from carrying her child with the dominant hand and sleeping/night feeding. First session she was very sensitive so light touch was required. This was the second session, two days later and she already had significant pain relief and muscular release before today. This time, she felt so relaxed she fell asleep.

Can you spot 水 shuĭ ?
The new logo has been inspired by the ancient Chinese bone oracle pictograph for water.
We live on an island surrounded by it. 71% of Earth’s surface is covered in it. 60% of our bodies are composed of it. Inspired by the constant ebb and flow of the tides, time & life-cycles, yin & yang. Through movement we must maintain a constant flow within our bodies to stay healthy, impossible without it. Nutritional absorption, separation, assimilation, metabolism, cell function, excretion, exercise, rest, regeneration, EVERYTHING we are and feel takes place in the presence of water. I have even found to be much more effective on a well-hydrated body.

Stress is a natural response to change, even a necessary state of being for life. But too much of one thing is never a good one. Most of us are in a state of chronic stress. We were never wired to be like this. Eventually it will catch up with you. 75-90% of doctor visits in the US are related to stress. 13.5 million workdays in Europe are lost due to stress. Individuals under constant stress have a 51% higher mortality rate. You must find balance. Yin and Yang. Take time for yourself. Pray, meditate, train, run, yoga, tai chi, breath, swim, really play with your children, allow yourself to have fun! One of the major benefits of acupuncture is in stress reduction.

Take control. Change your mindset. Health is as much about training and looking after your mind as anything. You may be experiencing mental overload or emotional turmoil, stressed and distracted. You will think you can't train or practice. You will say you don't feel like it. Just begin. At first you feel as if your mind and feelings won't change as you cling on your emotions or thoughts but It only takes a few minutes to "drop-in" to your practice, sometimes more. You begin to feel lighter, more aware of your body, more aware of your surroundings as you let go and feel the flow. The more often you practice and solidify a habit, the shorter the duration and easier it feels to drop into the zone. Sometimes you have to take the reins and tame the wild horse!

Pictured is the first section of the first Wing Chun form, usually practiced very slowly.

TCI OBSERVES WORLD ANTIBIOTIC AWARENESS WEEK

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health (both animal and plant), food security, and development today. Antibiotic resistance refers specifically to the ability of bacteria to resist the effects of antibiotics (medications used to treat them). They have warned that it is so severe that if no action is taken it threatens our ability to treat common infectious diseases, resulting in prolonged illnesses, disability, and even death.

This highlights the importance of World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW). WAAW, which is being celebrated on November 18 – 24th this year, is an annual observance that highlights the steps everyone can take to improve antibiotic prescribing and use. Antibiotic resistance occurs naturally over time, usually through genetic changes. However, certain human behaviours can make the situation worse and speed up the process. This includes the misuse and overuse of antibiotics in people and animals, including use without professional oversight. Examples of misuse include when people take antibiotics for viral infections like colds and flu, and when they are given to animals to promote their growth or used to prevent diseases in healthy animals.

Given the above, here are some ways you can help prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistant organisms:
· Take antibiotics exactly as prescribed by your doctor. That is, do not skip doses and ensure that you complete your course of treatment, even when you start feeling better.
· Only take antibiotics prescribed for you; do not share or use leftover antibiotics.
· Do not save antibiotics for the next illness, discard any leftover medication.
· Do not ask for antibiotics when your doctor thinks you do not need them.
· Prevent infections by regularly washing hands, preparing food hygienically, avoiding close contact with sick people, practicing safer s*x, and keeping vaccinations up to date.
· Do not purchase antibiotics from unlicensed pharmacies or shops.

Because antibiotic resistance is a complex problem that is driven by many connected factors, it is important to take a multisectoral coordinated approach to minimize its emergence and spread. In light of this, the Ministry of Health has formed a working group, comprised of health professionals from various sectors, to devise a national action plan (NAP) to tackle the this very serious problem. The NAP is a comprehensive plan that will place emphasis on antimicrobial resistance (resistance in microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites) and not just antibiotic resistance itself. The NAP will seek to improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance, strengthen knowledge through surveillance and research, reduce the incidence of infection and improve the use of antimicrobial agents. Throughout the year, members of the team have engaged in several exercises and training designed to build capacity in this area.

The MoHASHS in collaboration with the TCI Hospital and local pharmacies has planned a number of events/activities. These include:
· Discussion on antibiotic resistance on Monday, November 18th airing on RTC’s Health Matters Radio show at 7:00 p.m.
· Distributing information flyers to the Primary Health Care clinics.
· Setting up information booths at the TCI Hospitals on Wednesday, November 20th.
· Discussions on antibiotic resistance (to be conducted by the Director of Agriculture) with farmers throughout the week (November 18 – 24, 2019).
· A presentation on antibiotic resistance at HJ Robinson High School on Friday, November 22, 2019.
· A presentation on antibiotic resistance to church groups in Grand Turk at the LIFE Training Centre on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
· A presentation on antibiotic resistance to Providence Baptist Church, North Caicos on Sunday, November 24, 2019.
· A presentation on antibiotic resistance to Enid Capron Primary School by Carolina Pharmacy, Thursday, November 21, 2019.
· Discussion on antibiotic resistance on the Breakfast Club by Carolina Pharmacy, Saturday, November 23, 2019.
· Local pharmacies will be educating and counselling patients on antibiotic resistance at their respective locations throughout the week.

For more information regarding antibiotic resistance please contact the MoHASHS on 338-5132 or 338- 3072.
