With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished long-time Burbank Association of REALTORS® family member, Past President Mario Iacobellis.
Mario's passing is a tremendous loss to the real estate community. His contribution to BAOR and the City of Burbank is immeasurable.
Born on August 5, 1935, in Avellino, Italy, Mario served as an Italian Police Officer before immigrating to California in 1965. He began his professional real estate career in 1971 with Sterpa Realty and became a United States Citizen shortly after that. He obtained his broker license in 1974 and started Twin Realty in 1976 with his twin brother, Ugo. In 1979, Mario attained his contractor's license and developed multi-family and commercial real estate.
Mario served on the Board of Directors for many years, and he was twice elected President in 1989 and again in 1996. During his tenure, he served on many local committees and was a California Association of REALTORS® Director.
Mario was proud of his dual citizenship and Italian heritage. He never entirely lost his Italian accent, enjoyed traveling to Italy, where he still has family, built a home in Tuscany, maintained a Mediterranean diet, and continued to make great wine well into his 80's.
We mourn the loss of our friend and will treasure the memories we shared with him through the years. Our hearts go out to his daughter, Lori, his brother Ugo, and the Iacobellis family.
