Hi there everyone My Apologies for the going offline for a While I had a Problem with my Page but Now It Has been Fixed š
Have you heard about Leo, the cat that is causing quite a commotion at the Mt. Laurel (NJ, USA) Home Depot. The former barn cat was brought in about a year ago to deal with a rodent problem but now customers come in to the store just to see him roaming the aisles.
Three of the storeās associates share in Leoās caretaking, including feeding him, taking him to the vet, and making sure heās happy, healthy, and stylish.
Read more about Leo in this Philadelphia Inquirer article https://www.inquirer.com/news/new-jersey/leo-home-depot-cat-tik-tok-mt-laurel-new-jersey-20230824.html

Sorry, but I'm sleeping. You can't leave! Do not disturb! (Red collar male)
Not one of mine, but it certainly could be. I have had very similar situations. We become bonded with our cats, breeders or pets. We have to see the crisis through. There is no walking away. And it's not just the finances. There is an emotional drain, as well. The time, never less than 6 hours (sometimes days/weeks to a final outcome) spent waiting and wondering and the bill keeps rising. Not for the faint of heart, emotionally sensitive/weak or those looking for an easy/quick buck.
Newborn babies at Royalist Ragdolls along with a cautionary taleā¦
Our girl started in labor at 11am. By noon - bubble emerged but no kitten. I also noted that she wasnāt in active labor, so I called my regular vet and described the situation. They would not have been able to clear their schedule for a potential c-section so they referred me to the emergency vet. I am no fan of emergency vet clinics but in this situation we didnāt have a choice.
So I will spare everyone the entire story but she ended up needing a c-section and was spayed at the same time to avoid a uterine infection. The *down payment* for her care was almost $5,000 which had to be paid on the spot. The entire bill was over $7,000.
So when kitten buyers question the price of a well-bred baby from quality health tested parents, this is one of the reasons. If I hadnāt quickly reacted to the situation and been able to pay for the care, both she and the kittens would have died. This passion is not for the faint of heart or the thin of wallet! To be an ethical breeder you have to have the means to provide the highest quality care at the drop of a hat. Itās not easy and anyone whoās doing it right isnāt making money breeding kittens.
Thatās all, I just wanted to share this story because I often see posts questioning the price of kittens and other posts saying āoh I just want to breed my cat!ā
Besides the obvious issues of are your cats registered, healthy, health tested, and good examples of the breed? I really donāt think potential breeders understand that their Queen might very well not just pop out the litter on her own! She might - thatās optimal, but she also might not. Then what? Do you have a plan in place with your vet? Can you afford the worst-case scenario of surgery? I donāt think c-sections in cats are super rare either. This is the third c-section Iāve undergone and in each case Iāve spayed the mom and retired her from my breeding program because I donāt think a queen should have to go through that more than once.
On the plus side we will have some kittens available in about four months! Parents Wisdom Paneled DNA health tested and clear of 50 hereditary conditions. Kittens will be innoculated, neutered or spayed and TICA registered.
Health guarantee and health insurance to go home with.

Izzy, the dog, is probably my last dog. As many of you know, she is a very important member of the Classic Cattery family. She has helped raise hundreds of kittens, over the years. I took her to MetVet in the middle of the night with labored breathing. It turns out that she has a large mass in her abdomen. We will know more after an ultrasound today. Please keep your fingers crossed and keep her in your thoughts and prayers today. I will certainly post an update as soon as I know more. š
