Veteran dies covered in ant bites in a VA nursing home Sen. Johnny Isakson said he was "horrified" after Joel Marrable, a Vietnam War veteran, was covered in ant bites and died days later.

For the sake of total clarity and pursuant to the Total Permanent Disability (TPD) discharge program, veterans who are totally and permanently disabled due to a service-related condition are already eligible to have their federal student loan debt completely cancelled, tax-free.

Today’s executive order by President Trump, while important and certainly appreciated, it does not create a new student loan forgiveness program; rather, it directs the U.S. Dept. of Education and U.S. Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs to streamline the TPD discharge process.

Veterans Sustain Two Serious Defeats From Trump And The House To VA Health Care This week, Trump warned, in effect, that he might stack a commission that will choose VA facilities to close. Also, the House passed an appropriation to shovel spending, not into VA facilities, but into private care. These are part of an agenda to privatize health care at the expense of veterans.
