EHS was one of 16 recipients across the state and will use the grant money to purchase four headphones, three microphones, a digital voice recorder, a desk chair, and a neon studio sign for studio space.

The EHS Tiger Talk Podcast Network will enter its third year during the 2024-25 school year. The network features two podcasts, Tiger Spotlight, a podcast highlighting our Tiger community and The Jungle, the official EHS sports podcast. The network is sponsored by Mrs. Nicole Pontious and Mr. Dave Lipe and all episodes are planned, recorded, published, and promoted entirely by students. They have published 122 episodes with more than 3,324 total plays.

District #7 thanks The Lincoln School Alumni Foundation and President Herman Shaw for their generous donation of $50,000, which was presented at the May monthly Board of Education meeting.

A year ago, when the foundation inquired about what the District needed, it was identified that the position of a part-time family school liaison would be beneficial to provide support and identify obstacles hindering student success, whether it be attendance issues, home-life challenges, or a lack of necessary resources. With the support of the foundation, the District hired Wenifer Greer to fill that part-time position. During the past school year, Ms. Greer has conducted home visits, allocated resources, and established partnerships with other organizations to support students.

As the demand for this support has grown beyond what a part-time position can manage, the Lincoln School Alumni Foundation's donation will enable the position to be full-time. With the position becoming full-time, Ms. Greer will be able to reach more families and provide even greater support to ensure student success.

During Tuesdayโ€™s Board of Education monthly meeting, 13 EHS seniors were recognized for biliteracy through the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy and the State Commendation Towards Biliteracy. Biliteracy is the ability to read and write in two or more languages at a proficient level.

The Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy is an award presented at graduation in recognition of attaining a high-level of proficiency in English and in one or more other languages. The Commendation Towards Biliteracy is awarded to those students that tested but did not reach the intermediate high level of proficiency required for the seal. Both recognitions are officially designated on a studentโ€™s transcript and high school diploma. In Illinois, the seal also translates into Foreign Language course credit at some public colleges and universities.

The five students who earned the Commendation Towards Biliteracy include:
Sydney Andrews (Spanish)
Tyler Berkbigler (German)
Eda Demirer (Turkish)
Michael Steiner (Spanish)
Julia Towell (French)

The eight students who have earned the Seal of Biliteracy include:
Melanie Arzola (Spanish
Lillian Hernandez (Spanish
Judith Herbrechtsmeyer (German
Ivy Lin (Mandarin
Maria Linden (Spanish
Erik Petersen (German
Kaltrina Selimi (Albanian
Heloisa Passoni de Lima (Spanish and Portuguese)

The EHS FFA Club has been nurturing native plants from seeds, specifically for an annex monarch butterfly garden at Nelson Elementary.

The students in the club planted field thistle, milkw**d, and butterfly w**d โ€“ all of which help create a welcoming habitat for monarch butterflies.

On Wednesday afternoon, some of the FFA Club students transplanted those plants into the annex monarch butterfly garden.
