Political Science student SaRah Hamiliton (middle left) recently spoke at the Flint & Genesee Chamber with other Flinterns about her work this summer in Flint. SaRah has been using her knowledge gained in the classroom the past two summers by interning in various nonprofit roles. Her work recently has been with Flint Rx Kids, a citywide program to support mothers and infants in Flint, Michigan.
Had a great time hearing from current and former Flinterns during yesterday’s Chamber Luncheon. A big thank you to Flint & Genesee Education & Talent for coordinating and facilitating the panel!
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Michigan state representative and UM-Flint Political Science alumnus Tim Sneller. Tim was a strong representative, a great mentor to many of the UM-Flint students who interned with him, and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed.

Josh Spencer, owner of Cafe Rhema and UM-Flint Theatre Alum, is championing a CASE fund today for Giving Blue Day.
When we asked him why Giving Blue Day is important, he shared with us:
"I have been passionate over the years to giving back to my community, building many new businesses in Flint, including Café Rhema, a project that is near and dear to my heart. In fact, I was able to add my theatrical flair into the design of the space and menu, and even include a performance venue with our Rhema Lounge space behind the café. The primary vision of Café Rhema is to offer a safe, alcohol free space for students to hang out, and a platform for local artists to advance their skills."
Let's come together and support not only this fantastic local business today - but remember the impact even a small gift can make.
Donate through the QR code on Café Rhema's cups today and $5 will be added to each donation!
Today is the day! Visit our fund pages and make your gift this Giving Blue Day! Even the smallest gifts can make big impacts for our students!

Thanks to our efforts last Giving Blue Day, CASE Opportunity Funds supported a river clean-up event by awarding funds to current wildlife biology major Lauren Bishai. Lauren coordinated with Housing and Residential Life and other student organizations to execute the event in October 2023 and with the funding, was able to purchase enough supplies to support another clean-up event she plans to coordinate in the spring.
