Peach State STARBASE

Last week we hosted the Eastern Region Director's meeting with The Spectrum Group. 30 STARBASE directors joined us for the annual meeting. Special guests included The Adjutant General of Georgia and FTW Robotics. Directors collaborated for two days on many important STARBASE topics.

Our very own Froggy was recognized for 38 years as an educator. Congratulations Froggy!

Peachstate STARBASE Outreach had the pleasure of working with several Police Cadets from the City of Acworth and Marietta Police Departments.

The cadets were introduced to drones, and had the opportunity to fly them through obstacle course. The cadets created their own obstacles courses and competed against each other.

Congratulations on the promotion of one of our Blackhawk Pilots, CW4 Chaz McElvey. We couldn’t be prouder! Thank you for all the time you give to our students.

What a week! We hosted another camp for the Georgia National Guard State Youth Program this summer. It was a week full of trips around the base and flying drones, rockets, and many more.

We kicked off our summer camp sessions with a visit from the Paulding County 4-H Camp. It was the perfect day for learning about flying with the flight simulator, straw rockets and drones.

Wishing all of the 5th Grade students and teachers we hosted this school year a happy summer break! Stay safe and curious.

Community Outreach has been busy again! They joined Clarkdale ES for their annual "STEAMabration" Night. Over 125 students and family members flew drones through an obstacle course.

Community Outreach at Peach State STARBASE has been very busy this week!

On Friday we joined the STEM Club at Belmont Hills ES to help out at their last meeting. All the students had a great time flying drones through obstacle courses.

On Saturday over 200 students and family members flew drones at Tapp Middle School's community STEAM Day. Their drone club members had another opportunity to show their skills yesterday as they created challenging drone courses.

This past Monday, we were able to help celebrate the 5th grade students at Milford ES. Peach State STARBASE drones were an in-school field trip for the 5th grade class.

Calling all dependents of Georgia National Guard service members. Peach State STARBASE is partnering again with the Georgia National Guard State Youth Program for the 2024 Shoot for the Stars STEM Camp. We are excited to offer this to students who are 9-11 years old again this summer. Sign up soon! Space is limited.

What a pleasure it was to host Milford ES. Students were excited working through the Engineering Design Process to provide a secure vehicle to launch Col. Eggbert on his final mission.

STEM at its best. MCAA (Week 2) proved air exerts pressure with a bell jar and a marshmallow. The results were mind blowing!

Another great visit at the Dobbins Fire Station with Marietta Center for Advanced Academics. Thank you for one of the best days ever!

Thank you Milford ES for including us in your STEM Night. We loved the students' enthusiasm for flying drones.

We saved the best for last at our Aerial Robotics Teacher Institute. Thank you to FTW Robotics for coming out again and demonstrating how drones support a STEM program.

We were fortunate to spend some time with the educators at our own Peach State STARBASE this morning. STARBASE is our earliest point of engagement with the citizens of our state, and specializes in teaching STEM to 5th-8th graders. The group present today is comprised of educators from a number of states, and is participating in the STARBASE Aerial Robotics Teachers Institute. The Peach State STARBASE is leading the way for others across the nation!

We always enjoy visiting Varner ES and the Girls Who STEM club. Flying the drones was a hit with club members.

A week of STARBASE STEM activities leads to one of our favorite activities - flight simulation! Dunleith ES Week 1 soared through this activity.

This week we had a special treat for LaBelle Elementary School. Dobbins Fire Station hosted a fire safety morning with the students. As always, it was a blast!

King Springs ES (Week 2) accepted the engineering design challenge! Col. Eggbert arrived safely (most of the time).

The rain didn't stop the Green Acres ES STEM night from happening. We had a great time demonstrating drones to the students who came out.
