Is your child's car seat installed correctly? Correctly installed car seats can reduce the risk of injury in an automobile accident by 82%. Don't miss the free car seat check event on August 23 at the Fort Gratiot Fire Department from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be onsite to assess seat selection and installation, seat use and whether it's time to change seats.

🌞 Our Help Me Grow St. Clair County program offers free developmental screenings for children ages 0-6 and provides insight into your child's development. Help Me Grow is part of our services through the Early Childhood Services Department, which provides parental support and resources to help children ages 0-5 develop and grow to their full potential. Staff can help connect families to local community resources that help children thrive, including parent support, high-quality early learning experiences such as child care and preschool, developmental information, and home visiting programs. Early Childhood staff were part of this year’s Family Night at the Blue Water Festival in Port Huron, providing resources and interacting with our community through games, activities, and giveaways. We have an opening for a 31N Social Worker/Psychologist/Counselor to work with St. Clair County school districts. The position will focus on completing behavioral assessments, developing student treatment plans, providing non-academic counseling services, and assessing the need for additional counseling, crisis intervention, and client-centered student-guided services with families when appropriate.

Plan a trip to the Pine River Nature Center to enjoy the latest StoryWalk installment, A Slug's Life by John Himmelman. Each page is set up along Wildflower Trail, making it a fun and interactive outdoor experience for all ages. As you read, keep an eye out for real-life slugs along the trail! 🎉Congratulations to the five St. Clair County TEC students who competed at the prestigious national SkillsUSA Competition in Atlanta June 24-28. The following TEC students demonstrated their proficiency and skills in their respective fields:
– Gavin Ward, Marysville High School, placed 14th in the CNC Programmer competition.
– Hannah Plucinski, St. Clair High School, placed 24th in the Cosmetology Overall contest.
– Allane Stamplis, St. Clair High School, placed 33rd in the Welding Sculpture contest.
– Samantha Halsey (competitor), Virtual Learning Academy, and Janiah Curry (model), Port Huron Northern High School, placed 16th in the Nail Care contest.
Students were accompanied by TEC instructors Duane Emig and Alecia Klein.
