I love it when God interrupts my thoughts and remind me that the battle is not mine, but His. It's easy to get caught up in our own worries and struggles, but when we remember that God is in control, it can bring a sense of peace and reassurance. Rachel's Testimony

Growing up in Tennessee, my brother and I were given a happy life. Our family owned a company, and we attended private school up until 6th grade, at which point, we switched to public school. The change really felt nerve wracking for me. I found myself just wanting to fit in and make friends. I began rebelling at 14. I started drinking and sneaking out to parties. By the age of 19, I was completely out of control. I was in and out of night clubs, bars, and drug houses with no plans of stopping. Before I knew it, my entire 20's flashed by and it all felt like a blur. I was seeking superficial treatments for deeper spiritual wounds. The first time I realized I had a serious problem was at 22, where I began seeking help with addiction from secular based resources. Over the next 10 years, I would end up in and out of numerous hospitals, treatment centers, and even a few mental health wards. Many miraculous things happened to me throughout that season which kept me alive. I was arrested on federal charges for being involved in a drug ring. I was facing 10 years in prison. I spent the next 2 years incarcerated searching for answers, which I found in the bible. I was released in September of 2020, and I was ready to start my life again the right way. I started making small compromises one by one, the biggest being alcohol. Two years flew by, and I was a full-blown alcoholic, blowing through money and stuck in a toxic relationship. I had been down this road before, and I knew I needed help. I wasn’t in the will of God, and I had done things in my own strength. That’s when I called Teen Challenge. The day I arrived here, I knew I had stepped back into the will of my Father. Why? Because I felt peace again for the first time in years. Here, I’m not some patient in a hospital, not some client at a rehab, or some inmate at a prison. I am a student being trained up in the word of God. After chasing all these different forms of meaningless pursuits this world has to offer, I’ve finally come to the same conclusion that Solomon did at the end of his life in Ecclesiastes 12:13.
