ssion grew a core group of volunteers who set out to build a food cooperative that would serve as a marketplace for local growers and producers as well as a regional center for sustainability. This was an exciting opportunity that we simply could not turn down. We opened on a limited basis, with a modest selection of local produce and natural foods, with the understanding that the store itself would serve primarily as a promotional tool to help build our base of member-owners. We knew that opening a store with a limited selection of products might cause some confusion and that many people might wonder why we need their “help” to grow. Over the past year many dedicated people have been hard at work securing capital for the store build-out. Through their efforts we have been fortunate enough to gain store equipment and displays, but we have not been able to install any of it because of the need to secure money for contractors and installation. Building our base of member-owners will be a key component to raising the capital needed to move forward with this project. We have reached a pivotal moment in the development of this project. We are on the cusp of becoming a thriving food cooperative that will be able to provide
this community with a wide variety of local, healthful products such as bulk foods, farm fresh eggs, and organic meats and dairy. We want this project to
