In the Gospel reading today, we read about the disciples returning from their various missions to tell Jesus all they have accomplished.

On this last day of the National Eucharistic Congress, Pope Francis reminds us that the Eucharist is “a summons to go forth, as missionaries, to bring the message of the Father’s tenderness, forgiveness and mercy to every man, woman and child.”

The close of the Congress offers our own commissioning as we enter the third year of the National Eucharistic Revival: The Year of Mission.

As you leave St. Cyprian Parish Family this week, remember to spread the joy of the Gospel with you wherever you go!

Last week, Jesus sent the disciples out on their missions. This week, St. Cyprian Parish Family family, we see the disciples returning to Jesus to report all they had done.

"Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while," He says.

When Jesus and the disciples arrive, we hear that a large crowd is already present. Jesus, filled with pity, begins teaching them.

This gospel offers us three very important reminders:

1) I am not Jesus
2) I am a human BEING, not a human DOING
3) I need rest!

Today, the National Eucharistic Congress explores the theme of Jesus' body, given to us as the Eucharist. Sometimes, it is difficult to remember that the Eucharist is indeed Jesus' body, blood, soul, and divinity. But God himself provides the grace to embrace this truth!

Today, the National Eucharistic Congress turns to Jesus' Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane when he prayed, "Not as I will, but as you will" (Mt 26:39).

Fr. Marc Gawronski invites you to learn more about redemptive suffering by reading JPII's letter Salvifici Doloris here: https://www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/apost_letters/1984/documents/hf_jp-ii_apl_11021984_salvifici-doloris.html

In solidarity with the pilgrims gathered in Indianapolis, let us pray as a St. Cyprian Parish Family family:

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen!

The second Sunday in July is known as Sea Sunday. Today, let us remember in a special way seafarers, especially St. Cyprian Parish Family parishioners, with this prayer:

Our Lady of Peace, pray for us! Bright Star of the Sea, guide us! Our Lady, Star of the Sea, pray for seafarers, pray for us.

St. Cyprian Parish Family the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time finds Jesus commissioning the Twelve Disciples. We often focus on the instructions Jesus gives the disciples as they depart, but today, let's look at how and why Jesus sends them in pairs.

It is not suitable for man to be alone. As humans, we are called to communion with God and others. By sending the disciples out in pairs, Jesus gives them both a system of support and accountability. In their travels, the disciples rely on each other to encourage and maintain integrity in their trials and successes.

To whom in your life do you offer encouragement and accountability? Who offers it to you?

St. Cyprian Parish Family family, today, we celebrate the Memorial of St. Henry, the only Holy Roman Emperor to be elevated to recognized sainthood.

Dedicated to monastic life, one of St. Henry's greatest contributions to the Church was building a monastery and cathedral in Bamberg, Germany.

St. Cyprian Parish Family family, let us remember our dedication to Jesus' Precious Blood with this prayer:

Almighty, and everlasting God, who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the Redeemer of the world, and hast been pleased to be reconciled unto us by His Blood, grant us, we beseech Thee, so to venerate with solemn worship the price of our salvation, that the power thereof may here on earth keep us from all things hurtful, and the fruit of the same may gladden us forever hereafter in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Is God calling you to be a deacon?
The world and the Church need you! God calls men like you to be consecrated to preach the Gospel, administer the sacraments, and care for the needs of the community. Deacons, through the sacrament of Holy Orders, are empowered to preach, baptize, assist at the Eucharist, and witness marriages. But deacons are not only ordained to attend to the religious needs of people; they are specially ordained to express care and concern for their brothers and sisters, especially the alienated and oppressed.

Today we celebrate St. Benedict, Abbot who wrote the famous monastic rule noted for its wisdom, moderation and need for obedience. St. Benedict has come to be recognized for the power of his actions against the enemy, alongside St. Michael, as a major protector against evil, particularly through the medal that bears his image. St. Cyprian Parish Family, as we begin this 14th week of Ordinary Time, let's contemplate today's Gospel. Jesus was unable to perform miracles in Nazareth because of the people's lack of faith, aside from curing a few sick people.

The people of Nazareth were Jesus' friends and family. It was an ordinary event for Jesus to return to visit his community, and because it was not unexpected, the people lacked the faith necessary for Jesus to perform miracles.

How often do we go about our ordinary lives lacking faith that Jesus will appear to us, let alone intervene? We forget that Jesus is physically present to us every time we receive the Eucharist and spiritually present all the time. This week, let's make an extra effort to invite and expect Jesus to show up in our ordinary lives in extraordinary ways.

On her deathbed, St. Maria Goretti radically forgave her assailant, and later appeared to him in a vision several years into his incarceration. Transformed by this experience, Serenelli joined the Capuchins as a gardener and laborer and, eventually, was accepted as a lay brother.

Inspired by its namesake, the Serenelli Project reintegrates men into society after prison by providing them stability, accompaniment, and forgiveness. Fr. Marc Gawronski invites you to learn more about them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdBK53nHAWc

St. Cyprian Parish Family family, today is the Feast of St. Anthony Zaccaria, who encouraged the ringing of church bells at 3 pm on Fridays in remembrance of Jesus' crucifixion. To honor both St. Anthony Zaccaria and Our Lord, let's set a reminder for 3 pm to stop and pray a Divine Mercy Chaplet. https://www.thedivinemercy.org/message/devotions/pray-the-chaplet

Happy Fourth of July! A Prayer For Our Country - God our Father, giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among your people. Send your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the “culture of death.” Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

St. Thomas, also known as "Doubting Thomas," was not with the apostles when Jesus first appeared to them in the Upper Room. Incredulous about Jesus' Resurrection, he proclaimed he would not believe unless he could touch Jesus' wounds.

When St. Thomas finally saw Jesus, he uttered, "My Lord and my God!"

During Mass this week, let us remember St. Thomas' words as Father lifts the Eucharist and offers them as a silent prayer:

My Lord and my God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
I do believe. Lord, help my unbelief.

Here are our Mass times:

Saturday 5:00 p.m. & Sunday 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday & Thursday 9:00 a.m.
