If you believe Narcan should be available over the counter, let the Feds know!

Narcan is a life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdose. If you haven’t heard, 2023 is already breaking records for 100% PREVENTABLE overdose deaths. I’m looking at you, New York!

Leave your comment for the Federal Register and let them know that anyone should be able to access Narcan without a prescription. While Californians already have access, many across the country don’t — especially in states most impacted by overdose deaths.

Despite what InstaTherapy would have you believe, thriving isn’t all 🦄 and 🌈 .

Healing from trauma is a lot of painstaking, invisible work and the outcome doesn’t mean we no longer suffer.

A client thought they were no longer thriving because they still faced challenges in their relationships & with their self-worth.

Recovery doesn’t mean we become perfect. It means we recover the connection with ourselves. And then we can get to the deeper work!

Don’t get me wrong, thriving is still way better than being in survival mode.

But it also helps to have realistic expectations about life and the challenges it will bring.

Our Story

Our team provides substance abuse treatment to teens and adults and helps concerned significant others understand addiction. We specialize in harm reduction psychotherapy and help people manage their relationship with substances.

Dr. Fernández offers supervision, training, and consultation for clinicians interested in learning more about harm reduction psychotherapy and impulse control disorders such as kleptomania and compulsive sexual behaviors.

Professional presentations and trainings on topics ranging from the neurobiology of addiction to responsible drinking skills are available. Past audiences have included mental health patients from Contra Costa Health Services, mental health providers from Bayside Marin and Sequoia Center, and forensic service agencies such as the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, and the United States Probation Office.

Dr. Fernández received her Doctorate in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. She is a bilingual therapist and provides therapy in Spanish. (PSY 26573)
