When you’re 13, meet your idol () and she signs your jersey… what an incredible day. I am so excited for Ava!! Her and I had so much fun at the vs game. We had awesome seats right behind the bench and Ava was able to get Sophia Smith to sign her jersey. The game was fantastic and we got to see so many incredible players from all over the world who we’ve watched for years! The is amazing! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Why can’t an office be cozy and inviting?

I wrapped up this project for a financial planning group in Glastonbury last week. They were moving down the hall to a newly renovated, and much bigger space, and wanted to bring me in to create a warm and welcoming space for their clients that didn’t feel too corporate or cold.

I certainly wouldn’t mind sitting and waiting in this lobby! And yes that is a massive picture frame tv behind the coffee bar that circulates different images when the TV isn’t on.

Yesterday was such a great day! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE working with clients. I love creating spaces for them to live and to grow in. I love taking their likes and their style and shaping it into the space they’ve dreamed about. But sometimes I love having full creative freedom to pull together the things I love. It’s good for my soul. 😍

One of my current projects is working for a longtime client who builds/flips homes. He’s embarking on a new construction build on the beach in Westerly, RI and brought me on to design the space. I spent the day at pulling together hard materials for the kitchen, master bathroom, main bathroom and powder room (not shown). I wanted to keep the look bright and airy, since it is the beach, but also warm and cozy. I went with warmer toned elements for a soothing feel in the kitchen, but brought in some soft green/blue tones in the bathrooms.

What do you think? Does this say cozy beach home?

To be a kid again….

My most recent collaboration with included a little something for every one of all ages. challenged me to create a way to utilize this awkward space. The clients have more than enough storage throughout the basement, so an oversized closet was not necessary. The space was too small and enclosed for an office. To make it even more challenging, there is an access door into the utility room of the house inside the space, so anything we did needed to be easily accessible for an adult.

I have been dying to create a built in playhouse! I consulted my 13, 10 and 5 year old who are experts on playing “pizza shop” and created this design. The right side can open just at the top to create a window effect, but also fully closed for an easy place to hide the mess at the end of the day. Both sides fully hinge open for easy access for an adult. The color is painted to match the other cabinetry in the basement ( Hale Navy), and the light includes a remote controlled, battery powered light bulb from Amazon. Finally the house number includes the kids birth years, and the mural is a removable decal that won’t damage the walls when it’s time to remove.

It’s a mood.

Looking forward to a very hectic week… lots of new projects starting and projects coming to an end! I can’t wait!!

This is what my Saturday night looks like. 😅 Sorting (and stressing over) colored pencils for a fun kids’ basement space I am working on for an amazing client in Wethersfield. I have one space left in this basement design - a grouping of small shelves above a desk/craft area. I wanted to bring in something fun and whimsical to the space, so I thought purchasing some bulk colored pencils and sorting them into color groupings would be really fun (and inexpensive). I love how these group together. 🔴🟠🟢🔵🟣

I. Am. Freaking. Out.
It finally came. My very first, real piece of art. I was never someone who got overly invested in artwork. And then I started following on instagram and I just HAD to have one of her pieces. After renovating and redesigning our family room, I knew exactly which pieces to buy and where it would go… now just a little more patience while I get it framed and pick out a library/art light for it.

Styling a surface - coffee table, bookshelf, kitchen island - doesn’t have to be hard. Here are 5 rules I use whenever I’m tackling a space.

And you don’t need to buy new stuff. Try applying these tips to your current space, and don’t be afraid to move something from one room to another. It’s the easiest way to refresh your decor without spending more money.

05/27/2024

The thing I get asked the most is how to style a surfaces… a console table, a book case, a coffee table, etc. Finishing touches - like frames, mementos and plants - are what make a space feel elevated and finished. If fixtures and furniture are the foundations of your space, the finishing decor is like the jewelry on a great outfit. But trying to figure out what to put in your space or how to style it can be a challenge.

Over the next few days I will share my tips for curating all of your surfaces.

Wow. To say I'm speechless is an absolute understatement. 🫣

In 2020, if you had told me that a single leap of faith would lead me to not only owning my own business, spending my days creating beautiful spaces for people, but that I would also win Best of Hartford for those designs two years in a row... I'd tell you that you had absolute lost your mind. Yet, here I am. ❤️

I am so so so lucky to do what I do every day. But my favorite part - the most fulfilling part - is knowing that I get to be a teeny, tiny part of peoples' stories. Whether it's helping to design a kitchen where they will stand around the island talking with their kids at night, or decorating a family room that will host movie nights and holidays, or a master bedroom that will their calm in the storm of life... I cherish the trust my clients put in me and I don't take the responsibility lightly.

A big congratulations to with our 7th (!) Best of Hartford for Home Repair and Remodeling in a row! And thank you, again, to all of you who have trusted me with your projects, shared my posts, referred friends, encouraged me when I was down, and supported me through all of this. I love you all! xoxo

Stepping away from design for a moment. My husband’s cousin, Kelly, and her wife Ashely have just been dealt a really difficult hand for their family. They face a long road ahead. If you are able contribute even a little, it would be amazing. If you are unable, please just keep them in your prayers.

So I know I have been a bit absent lately, mostly just posting a million very random stories. After a failed cervical spine fusion in 2022 (anterior), we had to go back in to try again, this time with a posterior fusion and laminectomy. I’ve got more hardware in my neck than a truck.

I have to admit, the relief I feel in my actual vertebrae is immediate and that’s a blessing. However, I still have a long road ahead of me with rehabilitation, but I will get there. I have amazing doctors at , incredible parents who have helped with driving the kids to practice and cooking and running errands, and a wonderful group of friends/family who have checked in on me, visited, taken me for coffee… brought me black cherry polar seltzers when I had a craving…. 😂

A huge thank you to for giving me all the time I need to recover while simultaneously making me feel so very loved and important to TruNORTH. I appreciate all my clients who have had to pause or postpone projects because of this, but your kind texts and emails remind me how much more the job is than just pretty rooms.

But the biggest thank you goes to the real super hero, my husband who has shouldered the entire household while also caretaking for me. I couldn’t not have gotten through this without him. I love you, Dan.

The hard work starts now. But with love and gratitude, I think I’ve got this. 😘😘😘

Nerd mode: engaged.

Yes, while I’m sitting at my desk designing a room for a client, I’ve got the NASA channel on my TV watching the live lunar landing.

Gotta keep both the left and right brain happy. 🤗

I am so excited for 2024 and getting started on this amazing project. The crazy talented had a vision to bring other creative professionals together in a beautiful coworking space in Cheshire, CT. She has asked me to help bring her vision to life in a stunning, 100+ year old Victorian home. I cannot wait for the challenge and to see the space filled with others. Please give a follow and stay tuned for updates on the project.

I had a wonderful time working with these clients. Farrah and Dave were amazing through the whole process…. Though I did promise Dave I’d figure out how to get a dragon into the space, and I never came through on that promise. 😬 Enjoy your new kitchen!!!

Christmas Tree Hack. 🎄 Ok, it’s more like a “happy wife” hack if your wife is like me and wants the tallest possible tree that can fit in her house. I am - unapologetically- Clark Griswold. I’m not happy unless the tree is scraping the ceiling. Dan made this little measuring stick a few years ago out of PVC. It even accounts for the size of our tree base. (He’s even an amazing son-in-law who made an extension for my parents’ ceiling which is a foot taller.) Every year he’s the talk of the tree farms with his tree ruler. 😂 He loves me. ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 The kids are now outnumbering the adults.

I had a chance to stop at the brand new at West Farms Mall. If you’ve worked with me or even talked with me about furniture you know how much I love this brand. They are high quality, timeless pieces that fit so many aesthetics. And unlike so many retailers, their prices match their quality. I almost gasped when I walked into this space because it is an absolute manifestation of my aesthetic right now. It’s so warm, and lived in, and organic… yet polished. Go check them out and see what it’s all about.
