Tucson Utilities Temporary Assistance
While each utility company has stated they will not disconnect services due to non payment at this time, the missed payments do not go away. They just become a new debt. If possible, utilities services should be paid as usual. If you are unable to pay them in full each month, contact the utility as soon as possible to explore your options. At this time, Tucson based utilities have agreed not to stop service but this is only a temporary assistance. All those bills will come due in a couple months. In the middle of the Tucson summer, it might be challenging to pay your current A/C bills while also paying off your past due balances.

Ridesharing your way to Bankruptcy.
Working for ridesharing companies such as Uber, Lyft, Grubghub etc. can offer many people a convenient way to supplement their income. What most drivers or contractors for these companies don’t factor in, is the financial risk of getting into an accident while on the job and not having the proper insurance coverage. These companies do require drivers to send proof of insurance to start working, and periodically resubmit proof of insurance. The issue at hand is insurance companies will not cover on the job auto accidents if the driver has not obtained proper coverage for these ridesharing jobs. Unless driver inform their insurance companies, they are doing rideshare work, there is no way for them to inform the driver they need supplemental coverage. Often, the rideshare companies themselves do not verify that their drivers have the specific rideshare coverage, so long as they have a general policy. While many drivers think they are covered, one accident that is not covered by their insurance can lead to a financial nightmare, ultimately driving them to bankruptcy. While “side hustle” gigs are great ways to earn extra income, drivers should be aware of what their insurance will and won’t cover. Carina Julig’s article talks about Heather Noel’s story warning other drivers to be aware.
