World AIDS Day is celebrated annually around the world on 1 December and it has now become one of the most recognised international health days over the years. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome shortly known as AIDS was first identified in 1981 and it was named as AIDS in 1982.

Yearly a large number of people are dying due to AIDS. As per the official reports, in 2012 around 36 million people have died due to this dreadful disease. The world came to know about AIDS in 1988. Due to no awareness of AIDS, people affected with HIV infection have been outcasted from the society. It is estimated that more than 35 million people are suffering from this deadfull disease and many millions of people died from the virus making it one of the most destructive pandemics in the history.

World Aids Day gives the opportunity to increase awareness and an easy access of treatment along with various preventive measures.
The celebration comprises many things like organizing speeches, discussion sessions related to AIDS. World Aids Day is campaigned by World Health Organization (WHO) along with other global public health.
