On December 27, 2020, UAE resident Mary Christine will attempt to climb 5,895m / 19,340 ft. Mt. Kilimanjaro which is the world's tallest freestanding mountain, the tallest mountain in Africa, and one of the seven summits.

This Challenge will support a charity project in partnership with Friends of Cancer Patients to raise funds for Karin, an 8-year-old Stage 1 Leukemia patient who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments and will require bone marrow transplant. Karin's family is unable to cover the medical costs due to limited family income and the high cost of treatments.

Mary's expedition is hoping to raise enough funds to help support Karin and her family as much as possible. With a long history of exploration and adventure, Mary was so moved by the plight of Karin that she pledged her help and started to plan her forthcoming climb up one of the most daunting mountains in the world.

Mary herself lost her own father to cancer in 2005 and ever since then, her mission has been to do her part in helping cancer patients in any way she can. Born in the U.K. but raised in the UAE since she was 5, Mary has dedicated her life to helping those most in need.
