‘Food is a weapon. When you control seed, you control life on earth.’
Vandana Shiva is a modern-day revolutionary, and for forty years has been fighting a heroic battle on behalf of humanity and the ecologically besieged natural systems that support us. But she is opposed by powerful multinational corporations invested in continuing their degenerative but lucrative agricultural practices. Who is she? What is her mission? How did this woman, the wilful daughter of a Himalayan forest guard from an obscure town in India, become Monsanto’s worst nightmare: a rebellious rock star in the global debate about who feeds the world? By profiling one of the greatest activists of modern times, the film looks at the epic struggle over who controls the world’s food systems, and asks the question, who will prevail? A classic ‘David versus Goliath’ tale.
‘Arf yw bwyd. Pan wyt yn rheoli hadau, rwyt yn rheoli bywyd ar ddaear.’
Mae Vandana Shiva yn chwyldroadwr modern, ac ers deugain mlynedd mae wedi bod yn ymladd brwydr arwrol ar ran dynoliaeth a’r systemau naturiol dan warchae ecolegol sy’n ein cynnal. Ond fe’i gwrthwynebir gan gorfforaethau rhyngwladol pwerus sydd wedi buddsoddi mewn parhau â'u harferion amaethyddol dirywiol ond proffidiol. Pwy yw hi? Beth yw ei chenhadaeth? Sut daeth y fenyw hon, merch fwriadol gwarchodwr coedwig Himalayan o dref aneglur yn India, yn hunllef waethaf Monsanto: seren roc gwrthryfelgar yn y ddadl fyd-eang am bwy sy’n bwydo’r byd? Wrth broffilio un o actifyddion mwyaf y cyfnod modern, mae’r ffilm yn edrych ar y frwydr epig dros bwy sy’n rheoli systemau bwyd y byd, ac yn gofyn y cwestiwn, pwy fydd yn drech? Chwedl glasurol ‘David yn erbyn Goliath’.

YouTube and TikTok may seem like a younger person’s medium, but not for 50-something Martin Decker. He’s embarked on a brand-new career as an internet superstar. For the past year he has been making homemade TV shows in his bathroom. But despite his claims to have the full support of his family, his life falls apart. He is now the subject of a film that is part documentary, part surreal tragic comedy. With complete access to all his videos, fan and critic interviews, found footage and even animation, Martin’s motivations and creative urges are investigated. He has the need to make a connection but who is his real target audience – his fans or his family? Featuring a host of Welsh acting talent, this will be a unique experience as Martin will be at the screening to present the film himself if anyone wishes to question him about his genius cinematic talent.

Director/Cyfarwyddwr: Andrew Legge. Cast: Stefanie Martini, Emma Appleton, Hugh O’Conor.
In 1941, music-loving sisters Thomasina and Martha Hanbury build a machine called LOLA which can intercept radio and TV broadcasts from the future. While the sisters initially use the machine for small ventures like becoming the first fans of the 1970s music scene, they soon realise that the machine may hold the key to defeating the N***s. LOLA proves to be massively effective in shifting the tide of the war, but as Thomasina begins to become carried away with the level of power the machine holds over the future, the sisters soon discover the world-altering consequences of their actions.
‘Simply breathtaking’ - The Hollywood News.
Ym 1941, mae’r chwiorydd sy’n caru cerddoriaeth Thomasina a Martha Hanbury yn adeiladu peiriant o’r enw LOLA a all ryng-gipio darllediadau radio a theledu o’r dyfodol. Er bod y chwiorydd yn defnyddio’r peiriant i ddechrau ar gyfer mentrau bach fel dod yn gefnogwyr cyntaf sîn gerddoriaeth y 1970au, maent yn sylweddoli’n fuan y gallai’r peiriant fod yn allweddol i drechu’r Natsïaid. Mae LOLA yn profi fod yn hynod effeithiol wrth symud llanw’r rhyfel, ond wrth i Thomasina ddechrau ymledu â’r lefel o bŵer sydd gan y peiriant dros y dyfodol, buan iawn y bydd y chwiorydd yn darganfod canlyniadau newidiol eu gweithredoedd.

Richard Wayne Penniman, known to the world as Little Richard, was without a doubt one of the godfathers of rock 'n’ roll, blazing a flamboyant trail for Elvis, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, David Bowie and everyone in-between. Director Lisa Cortés uses a wealth of archival footage to bring to life the Black, Q***r origins of rock 'n’ roll, demolishing the dominant white-washed narrative; interviewees include family, friends, musical collaborators and musicians and artists influenced by his work and image. The result is a multi-layered film, exploring and embracing Little Richard’s complicated inner world with all the twists and contradictions.
Heb os nac oni bai, roedd Richard Wayne Pennimen, a adnabwyd gan y byd fel Little Richard, yn un o dadau bedydd roc a rôl, yn cychwyn llwybr tanbaid i Elvis, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, David Bowie a phawb yn y canol. Mae’r cyfarwyddwr Lisa Cortés yn defnyddio cyfoeth o ddeunydd archifol i ddod â tharddiad Du a Cwiar roc a rôl yn fyw, gan ddymchwel y prif naratif gwyngalchog; mae cyfweleion yn cynnwys teulu, ffrindiau, cydweithredwyr cerddorol a cherddorion ac artistiaid sydd wedi’u dylanwadu gan ei waith a’i ddelwedd. Hlynur Pálmason’s extraordinary third feature finds a Danish priest battling both locals and a forbidding landscape in 19th-century Iceland. The struggle between the strictures of religion and our own brute animal nature plays out in this stunning psychological epic, where Danish priest Lucas makes the perilous trek to Iceland’s southeastern coast with the intention of establishing a church. There he finds his resolve tested as he confronts the harsh terrain, temptations of the flesh, and the reality of being an intruder in an unforgiving land.
‘A film of extraordinary craft and power’ - Sight&Sound
Mae trydedd nodwedd ryfeddol Hlynur Pálmason yn dod o hyd i offeiriad o Ddenmarc yn brwydro yn erbyn pobl leol a thirwedd waharddol yng Ngwlad yr Iâ yn y 19eg ganrif. Mae’r frwydr rhwng caethion crefydd a’n natur anifail crwt ein hunain yn chwarae allan yn yr epig seicolegol syfrdanol hon, lle mae’r offeiriad o Ddenmarc, Lucas, yn mynd ar daith beryglus i arfordir de-ddwyreiniol Gwlad yr Iâ gyda’r bwriad o sefydlu eglwys. This personal and intimate film offers privileged access to her works, and highlights the source of her feverish creativity, her resilience, and her unmatched lust for life, politics, men and women. Making use of the latest technology to deliver previously unimaginable quality, using letters Kahlo wrote as a guide, filmed extensively at Kahlo’s home ‘The Blue House’ in Mexico City.

’In this semi-autobiographical drama, David, a seven-year-old with a heart murmur, moves with his parents and sister from California to a mobile home in rural Arkansas. His father Jacob plans to start a farm specialising in Korean vegetables, while his mother Monica frets about money. However, the arrival of Monica’s mother from South Korea soon complicates matters. As seen through the eyes of David, this funny and moving film subverts Asian-American stereotypes with Lee Isaac Chung shining a light on the modern American experience – a Grapes of Wrath for the 21st century.’ Curzon. Rydyn ni am iddo fod yn brofiad cymdeithasol lle gall pobl ymgynnull ac yna sgwrsio â phobl sy’n bresennol yn y dangosiad, gan sbarduno trafodaeth am rai o’r materion a archwiliwyd… Mae gan y stori gyseinedd am gymaint sy’n berthnasol i Gymru heddiw.‘ – Roger Williams.
Margaret Thatcher swept to power in 1979 with a manifesto that promised to establish a Welsh language television channel. Months into her premiership, she reneged on her promise and sparked protests in Wales. Against a backdrop of civil disobedience, the iconic politician Gwynfor Evans vows to starve to death unless the government changes its mind. One of the most colourful chapters of modern Welsh history told in an imaginative and unique style. ‘This film has been made with cinema audiences in mind… there’s something incredibly exciting about us coming together to watch the film. We want it to be a social experience where people can gather together and then hopefully engage in conversations with people present at the screening, sparking debate about some of the issues explored… The story has resonance about so much that is relevant to Wales today. ’ - Roger Williams.

Winner, Audience Favourite award, 2022 Sundance Film Festival London. Brian, a lonely inventor in rural Wales, spends his days building quirky, unconventional contraptions that seldom work. Undeterred by his lack of success, Brian attempts his biggest project yet. Three days, a washing machine, and various spare parts later, he’s invented Charles, an artificially intelligent robot who learns English from a dictionary and has an obsession with cabbages. What follows is a humorous and entirely heartwarming story about friendship, family, finding love, and letting go. ‘a feel-good charmer with a glowing human heart’ - BFI. ‘when the credits roll after an all too brief 90 minutes, viewers are left wanting more, which can’t be a bad thing, and all in all, this is an entertaining tale with a massive metal heart at its core’ - Big Issue North. Keep up with Charles’ adventures:
Enillydd gwobr Hoff y Gynulleidfa, Gŵyl Ffilm Sundance Llundain 2022. Mae Brian, sy’n ddyfeisiwr unig yng nghefnwlad Cymru, yn treulio’i dyddiau’n adeiladu dyfeisiadau od, anghonfensiynol nad ydynt yn gweithio’n aml. Heb ei rwystro gan ei ddiffyg llwyddiant, mae Brian yn rhoi cynnig ar ei brosiect mwyaf hyd yma. Tri diwrnod, peiriant golchi, a darnau sbâr amrywiol yn ddiweddarach, mae wedi dyfeisio Charles, robot deallus artiffisial sy’n dysgu Saesneg o eiriadur ac sydd ag obsesiwn â bresych. Mae’r hyn sy’n dilyn yn stori ddoniol a chwbl galonogol am gyfeillgarwch, teulu, dod o hyd i gariad, a gollwng gafael. ‘Ffilm teimlo’n dda gyda chalon ddynol ddisglair’ – BFI. ‘Pan fydd y credydau yn rhedeg ar ôl 90 munud rhy fyr, mae gwylwyr yn cael eu gadael yn eisiau mwy, all ddim bod yn beth drwg, ac ar y cyfan, mae hon yn stori ddifyr gyda chalon fetel enfawr yn greiddiol iddi’ – Big Issue Gogledd.
