EHS hip experts gave an excellent contribution to the World Arthroplasty Congress in Madrid today & yesterday. Our faculty were in some great sessions.
Yesterday: Which Implant for Which Patient? was moderated by Dr Raymond H Kim (USA) & EHS President Elect, Fares Haddad (UK), where we enjoyed talks on:-
Cemented vs uncemented: what the registries say?
Prof Ola Rolfson, EHS Member (Sweden)
Design concepts in uncemented stems
Dr William Hamilton (USA)
Short vs conventional stems
Dr Jonathan Vigdorchik (USA)
Bearing and head diameter:
What registries say?
Dr Anders Troelsen, EHS Member (Denmark)
Practical consideration to choose your liner
Prof Luigi Zagra, EHS Member & SciCom Chair (Italy)
Place of Hip Resurfacing in 2024
EHS President Elect, Prof Fares Haddad (UK)
New perspective in hip resurfacing
Prof Justin Cobb, EHS Member (UK)
Next, the ominously titled Hip & Knee session: The Dark Side of Arthroplasty, was moderated by Dr Craig De La Valle (USA) & Prof Eleftherios Tsiridis, EHS President (Greece).
Today we focused on the Hip & Knee session: Assistive Technology, with moderators Dr Elizabeth B Gausden (USA) & Prof Sebastien Lustig, EHS Member (France). We heard EHS President, Prof Eleftherios Tsiridis (Greece) asking: "Do we really need assistive tools and can we make them cost-effective?" & EHS President Elect, Prof Fares Haddad (UK) debate: "Robotics: just a marketing tool?"
So. Is it?
Those who were there, know.
🤓
Thanks & well done to everyone involved in this nice collaboration that takes place every 3 years between EKS, IOEN, the Hip Society & the Knee Society, joining together hip surgery experts from Europe, USA and Asia-Pacific. EHS is very happy to be part of it. 😀
