…NEW MIX IS OUT!!! “Drill Trap Soundsystem” (under my new name, DJ Alien Resurrection) features Jamaican Drill and Trap music and a mini set at the end of 1960s Jamaican Ska. I just became aware of the drill scene in Jamaica recently, and I went on a deep dive into it. This is a collection of some of my favorites, spanning from about the mid 2010’s until current stuff that just came out. The Jamaican style of Drill and Trap is different from the US styles, They are obviously doing music that originated in the US, but they put their own spin on it. Similarly, that’s how Ska was created. In the 1950s, Jamaican musicians were trying to emulate American R&B, and what they ended up making was Ska. This, to me, is the evolution of that in modern times, so I wanted to include a little mix of some of my favorite OG Ska at the end. Please enjoy, bang it loud, and most importantly, tell a friend! Appropriately titled “Fuct Tape”, this mix is a heavy-hitting combination of Trap sub-genres and crossovers, with scream vocals, heavy guitars, chopped up Memphis rap acapellas and detuned 808 cowbells, distorted 808 subs and speaker-smashing kick drums, that take you on a journey though Trap, Hip-Hop, Drum n Bass, and even House. …NEW MIX OUT NOW! This is a special concept mix that’s filled with what I’m calling “1950s Boogie Woogie Bangers”. This isn’t the 50s radio playlist you’ve been hearing your whole life, this is the OG music that people like Elvis and Jerry Lee stole from. Artists you probably never heard before, that were making absolute bangers. These are non-stop party jams and dance music. There's a handful of songs on here that a lot of people will know, but I also tried to dig to get those tracks that even people who grew up in the 50s will be like “Damn, son! Where’d ya find THIS?!” The mix was originally inspired by the scene in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles where John Candy is driving late at night and Ray Charles - Mess Around comes on the radio, as well as the fact that his character Uncle Buck also listened to those same kind of 50s jams. So this has all the songs he listens to in those movies, as well as some movie samples, Chicago references, and those special DJ SOLO sprinkles on top, but what I wanted was a whole mix that had the energy of Mess Around and that’s what this is. I’ve been sitting on this mix for like a year and listening to mixdowns of it the whole time and I never get sick of it. It’s been on heavy rotation in my car and at work and still is currently. If you hear this and it doesn’t make you wanna start dancing, then you should go to the doctor and have your b***y checked out because it might be broken!
