Today, we celebrate the Day of the African Child under the theme 'Eliminating harmful practices affecting children: Progress on policy and practice since 2013'.
The prevalence of harmful cultural and religious practices continue to violate the rights of children across the country and limit children especially girls capacity to fully participate in society and reach their full potential .
We therefore call upon responsible authorities to take measures in enacting laws that prohibit all harmful practices which include child and forced marriage, female ge***al mutilation and child labor and ensure all children enjoy their rights.
