🚨IN-COMING! AUSTRALIAN IMPORT SIGNS!

🏒Oxford City Stars have swooped to sign Australian forward Xander Wardlaw.

✍️The 22-year-old import has joined the Stars from Sydney Bears for his first season in the UK.

🥅Wardlaw scored five goals in 17 appearances for the Bears last season.

He previously played for Penrith Raptors where he scored 25 goals in 29 appearances across two seasons, plus Sydney Wolf Pack where he scored 13 goals in 15 matches. He also regularly represented Australia U20. 🇦🇺

🗣️Wardlaw said: “I can’t wait to get the season started at Oxford and to see what the city has to offer.

“I’ve been looking to take my game outside of Australia and Oxford has given me the right opportunity to showcase my game. I’m looking forward to being able to contribute offensively and I’m looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates."

🗣️Shane Moore, head of hockey operations at Oxford City Stars said: ”Xander is a great young player who's looking for his first step in British Hockey. He's keen to make an impact and I think we are lucky to be able to bring him here to Oxford.

“I’ve heard great things about his game and him personally, and I think he will fit right in with the club culture and team we are looking to ice this coming season. I’m looking forward to seeing how he adapts to the NIHL 1 and what he can do in the yellow jersey.”

Noah announced himself to the country by playing on live National TV with the Adelaide Xtreme this season. His tenacious, hard-working, and team first style of hockey not only helped the Xtreme win the chocolates but it earned him a spot on the Avalanche and helped pad his resume to get on Team Australia's Junior Team!

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of dropping the puck for Adelaide Avalanche Ice Hockey Club in Game 2 on home ice against Brisbane Rampage for the Pacific Hockey League 🏒 ⁣

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙧! ⁣

It took me back 5 years ago, when I was actually at an game watching names like 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 and 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘆 skating around the ice. ⁣
⁣
They got pumped pretty much every game I got to watch… but I still remember wondering if they had a they worked with and how or if I could get involved somehow. ⁣
⁣
That little thought got buried for a few years, completely forgotten, until mid last year when the NHSL started, and I had the opportunity to jump on board with Adelaide Xtreme 🙌🏽⁣

I’ve been thrilled ever since, and am constantly grateful to be giving up my time to be part of this great sport, getting the chance to be involved with such great guys and an awesome community! 🖤❤️

A man who needs no introduction to Adelaide ice hockey fans. Joey MacDougall has built a reputation of being a hard-nosed leader of a team who can put up points on the score-sheet. He's only been in Adelaide a few years but already has a hefty local hockey resume that includes:

👉 Marquee player in the NHSL with the Adelaide Xtreme

👉 Captain of the Adelaide Xtreme. Would later win a championship with them.

👉 Fourth in NHSL in scoring (6 goals, 7 assists, 7 games)

👉 Consistently one of the scoring leaders with the Adelaide Tigers

👉 Former import player with Adelaide Adrenaline

👉 Head coach of the Adelaide Rush Ice Hockey Club

👉 Former president of the Rush

👉 Local coach with ice hockey and skate programs at the Ice ArenA

Originally from Canada, Joey (aka "Showtime") moved to Adelaide to go to law school. He's since graduated and is now working full time as a lawyer!

On Friday, I had the honour of playing a part in Adelaide Xtreme taking out the inaugural NHSL championship 🏒🏆⁣

Working with the Xtreme crew over the past few months has been a fantastic experience, and the athletes are nothing short of exceptional. 🙌🏽⁣
A well deserved win for this team, after an incredible season. ⁣

In more news, I’m excited to announce I’ll be working with the new Adelaide Avalanche Ice Hockey Club team for the Pacific Hockey League as their ! Working alongside PEAQ again, I can’t wait to get involved with the team and see where this next season takes us. ⁣

I look forward to continuing my work with some of the crew as they’ve joined the Avalanche crew, and meeting some new faces in the coming weeks. ⁣

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗟𝗘𝗧’𝗦 𝗚𝗢 👏🏽

This man. What can we say? Xander Wardlaw took a gamble by moving to South Australia for the NHSL from New South Wales. He did not disappoint.

He dazzled his way to a scoring title by notching a hattrick in the final game of the regular season. His 10 goals were tied for the NHSL lead and his 17 points were the most.

Then came the playoffs. Wardlaw put up 7 goals and 4 assists for a whopping 11 points in the four games played. He even scored five goals in Game 3.

Not only that but he commanded attention from opposition, drew penalties and scored sometimes at will.

At the end of the day he was one of the key figures that lifted the Championship Trophy.

What a season. What a player.

It’s been 6 months of blood, sweat, and tears. ⁣

They’ve dealt with COVID isolations, border closures keeping players out, playing against the League MVP and goalie of the competition in the Finals series, as well as losing in game 1…⁣
𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙫𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙩!⁣

Success is a puzzle that requires an incredible number of pieces to come together in order to achieve the holy grail. ⁣
⁣
We’re so grateful that yet again, we’ve been able to provide just 𝘰𝘯𝘦 small piece of that puzzle to very deserving .⁣
⁣
Just look at the faces on those players! ⁣
Seeing athletes live out their dream in Australia’s first ever professional league… that’s what it’s all about 🏆⁣

There are so many incredible people involved in the operation, but we’d like to especially thank 𝗫𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗚𝗠 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿 for allowing us the opportunity to be involved in this wild ride.⁣
