This week, Selena is reviewing The Nest, a gripping young adult book by Kenneth Oppel "This is a chilling middle-grade novel about a young boy who is approached by wasps who provide a solution for his ailing baby brother's condition. It brings to mind novels like Coraline and has plenty of scary moments and mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat".

Happy ! In keeping with the Book Week theme of 'Reading is Magic', Sallie is reviewing Norton and Alpha by Kristyna Litten a lovely family read about the magic of nature: "Meet the adorable robot Norton and his robot-dog Alpha! They're about to make an amazing discovery. Norton loves collecting discarded objects and using them to create the most amazing inventions. One day he and Alpha come upon something they've never seen before: a beautiful flower. At first, they're baffled, but with a little rain, sun, and soil, the flower itself teaches them about the magic of nature".

Babies and toddlers need time to practice new skills. The more words a child hears, the more they will know when they can understand and later use them. 👂

It doesn’t always have to be an exercise in imagination, try our recommended talking activity: What’s inside the fridge?

Opening the fridge and talking about the food that’s in there is a fun learning experience. Have a taste test too and talk about the flavours! 🍅🍌
