Nice early start this morning replacing some SMD ICs on the video interface of a screen controller for a CNC machine.

Enjoying my new work bench which I'll put some pictures up once I have worked out where to store everything!

An industrial remote in for repair. It's had a hard life, but with a bit of maintenance, it saved the owner the cost of a new one.

Some lab equipment in for repair this week. A magnetic stirrer and a hot plate. While items like this are fairly simple, manufacturers charge a premium for new ones, so makes sense to fix them where possible.

A beautiful Chord pre-amp in for repair. The remote and pre-amp weren't talking nicely to each other. A bit of PB Electronics counselling and now they get along just fine!
Poor dad jokes aside, these are an amazing amp from the UK, so very glad we could get it all up and running again for the customer.

Box load of RGB strips prepped and terminated for a local electrician. These are seriously bright and a simple way to add some really cool effects to home theatre cabinets, kitchens, outdoor spaces etc.

Lathe DRO in for repair. Power regulation board faulty, so swapped out for a much better quality module and up and running again.

Another bunch of OEM transformer kits ready to go. Some local here in Adelaide, others off to NSW.

A fan was brought in for me to repair. This is why you should never play with mains wiring people… this is how I received it. Metal framed industrial fan, neutral and earth shorted together.
Unless you are licensed, don’t play with 240V!

Broken video card in for repair. A 0402 resistor has been broken off the board and several pads completely destroyed. A bit of ingenuity and some custom soldering and it’s all working again.

Some old school repairs!
A technics double cassette and a turntable in for some love. In as new condition externally, very impressed.
No sound from the cassette player, diagnosed to a faulty electrolytic capacitor on a power rail (looked perfect, no swelling or leaking) and a fried resistor as a result. So owner gave to go ahead for a full recap.
Turntable had a broken stylus, so sourced and fitted a nice audio-technica upgrade.
Love the old stuff!
