Join Dante Alighieri Society of SA Inc. on Saturday the 2nd December from 9.30am to 1pm at the Altavilla Irpina Sports & Social Club - Official a for a family friendly event. Music, games, fun activities in Italian, face painting and arts and crafts will be also available for the children.

𝕀 ℙ𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕘𝕘𝕚 𝕕𝕚 ℕ𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕖/The Christmas Characters.

𝔹𝕒𝕓𝕓𝕠 ℕ𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕖 / Father Christmas 🎅, has made his way into the hearts of children in Italy. Based on European folklore, he is also known as Santa Claus, a version of Saint Nicholas who brings them gifts.

Children write letters "la letterina" to Father Christmas in the hope of receiving gifts.

On the 24th of December, Christmas Eve / la Vigilia di Natale and the on the 25th of December, Christmas Day / il Santo Natale children eagerly wait for the arrival of Babbo Natale / Father Christmas to visit and bring them gifts. 🎁

The jolly man in the red suit delivers these gifts as he travels with reindeers / le renne 🦌 whose names are: Rodolfo, Fulmine, Ballerina, Donnola, Freccia, Cometa, Cupido, Saltarello e Donato.

𝕀 ℙ𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕘𝕘𝕚 𝕕𝕚 ℕ𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕖/The Christmas Characters.

It’s the start of Christmas in Italy, with non-stop presents being received from the 6th of December to the 6th of January. But, who brings them?

There are different traditions depending on the region. Aside from 𝔹𝕒𝕓𝕓𝕠 ℕ𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕖/Father Christmas, there are other characters such as 𝕊𝕒𝕟 ℕ𝕚𝕔𝕠𝕝𝕒/St. Nicholas, 𝕊𝕒𝕟𝕥𝕒 𝕃𝕦𝕔𝕚𝕒/St. Lucy, and the old lady who rides a broomstick, 𝕝𝕒 𝔹𝕖𝕗𝕒𝕟𝕒.

On the evening of 5th and 6th December children look forward to a visit and receiving gifts from 𝕊𝕒𝕟 ℕ𝕚𝕔𝕠𝕝𝕒/St. Nicholas - a Bishop who protected children and helped poor people. 🎁

Due to the increasing number of positive COVID cases in our Community, regrettably, The Dante Alighieri Society of SA has decided to cancel the "Natale Down Under Event" that was to be held at the Marche Club on Saturday 4th December 2021.
We believe that we have a responsibility to keep our community safe and apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

The Society is organising "Natale Down Under", a fun family community Christmas event on Sat 4th Dec at the Marche Club Grounds.

We are looking for someone to dress up and play the jolly man in the red suit 🎅 to make an appearance & roam around throughout parts of the day - they won't be required to roam the whole time, but every now and again between 11am and 2.30pm.

Interested? Or know anyone that can dress up and spread some Christmas cheer for the kids?

Santa doesn't need to be of Italian origin.. but does need to have own suit.

After yesterday's directive from SA Health regarding the on-going restrictions, the Dante Alighieri Society has decided to further suspend the playgroup until further notice.

We apologise for all inconveniences caused and thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

🌟For this term, the sessions will be as follows : Saturday, 7th August 2021 until Saturday, 25th Sep, 2021 (8 weeks)
🌟Miriam Zito, who will be relieving Pamela Di Rocco, for the term, together with the assistance of Beatrice Casbarra, will be running the sessions. Please make Miriam feel welcome to the Dante Kids Playgroup Community!
🌟Pre-payment via EFT is preferred
🌟$40 PER CHILD, NOT PER FAMILY
🌟Due to COVID restrictions, it is preferred only one adult to attend per child.
🌟Changes to the playgroup sessions may occur without notice. Sessions are non-refundable.

Tomorrow will be the last Playgroup for Term 2.
We ask all parents to check in upon arrival and sanitise using the sanitising station available at the entrance.
