🏅 Congratulations to Vijay 🏅

We already knew he was a star, and now the league does!

We’re thrilled to announce that Vijay Sreeramoju, our co-captain for the Under 15s, has been awarded the Best and Fairest for his division at the 2024 McDonald's South East Queensland Youth Awards 🎉

Vijay returned to the Buffs just last year and has been an incredible asset to his team. That was exemplified with his tremendous 2024 season, where he led the Buffs from the front and took his game to the next level.

Coming from an extremely proud club family, he’s shown dedication, talent, and leadership on and off the field.

We know Vijay would trade this individual accolade for team success in a heartbeat, but it’s fantastic to see his hard work and skill recognised.

The future looks incredibly bright for Vijay in Buffs colours, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for this rising star! 🌟

Shout out to coach Jeremy Griffin for guiding Vijay to these heights!

The program uses a child centred approach to empower and equip children to achieve greater success at school and in their personal lives. Mimi’s House provides services across Brisbane and Logan free of charge to families. It costs approximately $7000-8000 per child, per year to attend the program. Despite a tough loss in Friday night's elimination final, we couldn't be prouder of our Under 13s team. This group of talented and determined boys and girls gave it their all, and we're confident they'll come back stronger next year.

Keep your heads high—your efforts this season have been sensational!

Congratulations to Kenmore Bears Junior Australian Football Club for taking the win, Jimboomba Redbacks AFC for hosting a great night of finals, and SEQ Juniors for the competition.

14/08/2024

Our Under 13s are ELIMINATION FINAL BOUND! 💥

Huge congratulations to our young Buffs for securing their spot in this Friday night's showdown against Kenmore at Jimboomba (6.30pm).

Show your support by cheering them on and leaving your good luck messages below. 👇

This team has shown incredible heart and determination over the years, and with some awesome newcomers this season, they've blossomed into a great unit.

It'll be a tough game, but come finals... anything is possible!

Stay tuned for a MASSIVE junior and youth wrap-up next week as we celebrate the end of another fantastic season.

Goodbye Auskick Transition 👋

Our Auskick stars have finished their games for the year, and what a season it was! Every single player improved so much throughout the year. From timid kids in game one to ball-hunting beasts in the final weeks, we all developed our marking, kicking, and handballing tremendously. Congratulations, young Buffs!

Thanks to our parents, carers, and grandparents who made it all possible by driving us around on these early Saturday mornings. Another shoutout goes to Greenbank Giants Australian Rules Football Club and Jimboomba Redbacks AFC - to the volunteers for making the games possible, and to the players and families for having fun with us.

Finally, a BIG shoutout to Coach Michael Grose for helping out, taking the team for training on Wednesdays, and hopping on the field with them on game day. Thanks also to Lynne for stepping in when needed!

29/07/2024

Make sure you get to training on Wednesday night as once again we'll have some players from the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team in attendance! Their last visit was good fun so make sure you're there.

🏉 Weekend Wrap 🏉

Let's kick things off by shining a spotlight on our Auskick Transition stars! Each week, our youngest Buffs brave the early morning chill in to refine their skills and embrace the fantastic game of Aussie rules. With coach Michael leading the charge, these young guns have shown remarkable progress throughout the season. This Saturday at the frosty Greenbank oval, their impressive handballing skills were on full display in a fun goal-for-goal clash with our hosts. Stellar job, team!

Back at Beenleigh, our Under 8s delivered one of their strongest performances of the year against Springwood. It was a game packed with goals and marks as our Buffs showed incredible determination and energy, chasing the ball relentlessly. Outstanding effort, team! A special shout-out to Celia for earning the Player of the Match award – well done!

Our Under 10s were back in action at Ipswich for the second consecutive weekend, this time taking on the Eagles at Limestone Park. The team gave another improved performance, particularly shining in the final quarter by keeping the ball in their attacking end. Great work, team, and congratulations to Kody for his Player of the Match performance!

In the youth division, our Under 13s enjoyed a bye, while our Under 15s faced Jimboomba at home on Friday night. It was a night filled with milestone celebrations (check out our previous post here https://www.facebook.com/share/p/ciduBoB9yVVmQURf/?mibextid=oFDknk), and although we didn't secure the win, the atmosphere was electric. The team fought hard, and it was wonderful to see everyone rallying to celebrate our milestone players. Taylor Banks took home the Best on Ground honors, with Paxton Mole earning one of the coaches' awards for an awesome mark, and Cooper Mason receiving the other. Fantastic work, team!

Photos from Beenleigh Australian Rules Football Club - Juniors's post 22/07/2024

At a community club like ours, you're not just a number... but we will celebrate your milestone numbers! What an incredible Friday night we had at our home ground when we celebrated a whopping six milestone games in our Under 15s!

Reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 games were Jordan Greaves and Zavian Ware. Jordy, who inherited his love for all things Buffs from his dad/team runner/seniors player Chris, has been hitting his stride this season. True to the Greaves spirit, Jordy always gives 100% effort when he takes the field. Loud and proud Bombers fan Zav has been a fixture at the club for years, both on and off the field, and it was heartwarming to see a crowd of family join his team manager mum Gina to cheer him on. Unlucky to not nab a goal!

We also had four players hit the 50-game milestone. Balyn Sreeramoju and Linkin Rees both come from long-standing proud Buffs bloodlines, making it extra special to see them hit their 50 games together. Don’t let Balyn’s calm demeanor fool you; he's a terrier on the field and is enjoying a fantastic spell of footy this year. Linkin has been a rock for the Buffs since rejoining in 2023, using his height to great effect.

Big Taylor Banks, a popular team member since joining the club, is now hitting his stride with 50 games under his belt. Whether it's using his height to mark and goal like his memorable game against Sherwood or in the ruck, Taylor's presence is felt on the field, including a best on ground performance in this milestone game!

Last but certainly not least is Caleb Fraser, who also reached 50 games. Caleb's enthusiasm and willingness to play whatever role the team needs have made him a welcome addition back to the Buffs.

Photos from Beenleigh Australian Rules Football Club - Juniors's post 18/07/2024

Facebook wouldn't let us post this the other night, but you can't keep the junior Buffs down! We had a long school holiday break, but our juniors and youth teams are finally back on the field. It's time for the long-awaited return of the weekend wrap-up!

Our Under 8s returned to action with a carnival round at Jimboomba on Saturday morning. This ground has hosted our team many times this year, and I don’t think anyone was sad to leave it behind! The games were intense, and our Buffs played their hearts out. Special shout out to Celia, who lost a tooth after breaking five tackles and kicking a match-winning goal! (Not true, but it sounds cool and we're telling her to stick with that story).

Our Under 10s also came back strong after the school holidays with a carnival round in Ipswich. Despite the long drive, it was worth it as they put together some of their best games of the season so far. They played hard and supported each other all day. Shout out to Nixon for his massive tackling efforts!

Our Auskickers had a unique experience when a shortage of players in the opposition led to us combining to form a Beenleigh superteam! Despite the long break, our youngest Buffs played brilliantly. It was a cold morning in Jimboomba, but the on-field action was hot, with our Buffs excelling, particularly in handballing. Great effort from all players!

We’ve had two rounds of youth games since the school holiday break.

**Under 13s:**
In our first game back, we faced a tough Sunday afternoon match at Victoria Point against a Sharks team close to us on the ladder. We started strong but couldn’t convert our forward entries into goals. The Sharks took control, but the Buffs came to life in the last quarter. Despite a couple of quick goals and a wave of momentum, we narrowly missed out on a win, with the Sharks holding on for a seven-point victory. Lisle was our HitCafe Beenleigh best on ground, while Alexis earned the Zarraffa's Coffee prize for her efforts. Shout out to Zac Polley for an amazing game.

Last week, our Under 13s secured a win against Alex Hills at home. A strong team performance saw the Buffs take an early lead and fend off a third-quarter challenge from our opponents. Will, in his first year of footy, scored his first goal in this game, earning him HitCafe Beenleigh best on ground honors—congratulations, mate! Travis, our reliable defender, was our Zarraffas award winner for his stellar work.

**Under 15s:**
Guided by coaches Chris Greaves and Chris Rees (thanks for jumping in fellas) our 15s traveled to Victoria Point for their first game back after the holidays. It was a tough match against a solid Sharks team, but the boys performed admirably, testing themselves in new positions. Tom won the Zarraffas award for his efforts, while Jacob claimed best on ground—congratulations on your hard work, boys!

With Jez back at the helm, the team headed to Coorparoo for their match on Sunday. In warm and windy conditions, Caleb (Zarraffas prize) and Jake P (best on ground) battled hard to earn match day honors—congratulations, boys!

We couldn't let AFL Queensland's Women's Coaching Month go with a special shout out to our Under 8s coach extraordinaire, Tami!

Tami previously excelled in Auskick/Superstars and was among the first to volunteer as a coach for the 2024 season, stepping up to lead our Under 8s team.

It has been incredible to witness the growth of these young Buffs under her guidance, as well as Tami's own development as a coach. Thank you for dedicating your time to our young Buffs!

Also a shout out to Maddy Clare (Under 10s) and Lynne (Auskick) for jumping in and helping us out with coaching when we needed it. Your assistance has been very much appreciated!

We'd love to see more women join our coaching ranks - drop us a line of you're interested in assisting the current crew for the rest of the season or if you are keen to coach a team in 2025!

Our weekend wrap hasn't been significantly delayed… it's just fashionably late 💅.

Let's start in reverse order this week with our 15s, who took on Morningside in an epic clash at home. It was a perfect Sunday morning for footy 🏉, made even more special with two special milestones to commemorate: new Buff Jake in his 50th game, and umpire/volunteer/club all-rounder Jacob McSwain in his 100th game. The team put the pressure on early and led at the halftime break, but in the end our visitors were too strong and claimed the win. Congratulations to Player of the Match Caleb 🏅, who with his brother Zac in U13s have been great additions to the club, and to Jacob for claiming the other award 🎖️.

Earlier that morning our 13s took on Sherwood in a nailbiter that went right down to the wire. Last time these teams played, our Buffs were close for most of the game but were blown away by Sherwood in the last quarter. But Beenleigh learnt their lesson this week, digging in when the going got tough to run out three-point winners. Congratulations to Chase for an all-action performance to win the HitCafe Beenleigh Player of the Match prize 🏅, and to Patrick for a great game to claim the Zarraffas coaches award 🎖️. Special shout out to Holly, who played an awesome game in her last hit out before impending eye surgery - the team wishes you all the best and can't wait to see you out there again 🌟.

On Saturday our 10s took on a strong Calamvale team on our home deck. The whole team put in a tonne of effort but it was Nixon who impressed the most to take home Player of the Match honours 🏅. Off the field, it was a big week for Charlotte and James, who both celebrated birthdays 🎂🎈.

Saturday also saw our 8s travel to Jimboomba again with another clash against our local rivals. This team has improved remarkably since round 1 and put in another strong showing, with Connor H’s hard defence earning him Player of the Match 🏅. Another Buff birthday to celebrate too - congrats Levi 🎉.

Our smallest Buffs in Auskick transition played at home as well, with one team taking a mix of Jimboomba and Greenbank players to cover short numbers due to illness. Well done to team Teal and Yellow for tremendous games! 👏

Youth families (over 80 people!) got together at Club Beenleigh last night to wrap up Term 2 as we take a short 2 week break from games for the school holidays. Pizzas, snitties, burgers, drinks, music bingo - we kept the club busy for a steady few hours and helped them beat their Wed night dinner record (contributing to 355 meals that went through the kitchen last night!)
Big thanks to the families who joined us (many not pictured!), and to Club Beenleigh for filling all the bellies.

Reminder that our last training session before school holidays for juniors is tonight from 5-6pm with a visit from Gold Coast Suns AFLW players.

Photos from Beenleigh Australian Rules Football Club - Juniors's post 16/06/2024

Midseason break = change to training

Just a reminder that with the midseason break upon us, our regular training schedule is taking a short break. BUT that doesn't mean there's no footy fun!

Juniors (Auskick / 8s / 10s):

Get ready for an awesome one-off training session this Wednesday, 5-6pm! So that means NO training Monday June 17, but a fun session is on the cards for Wednesday. Here's the best part: we'll have some special guests joining us – some Gold Coast Suns AFLW players!

This is a fantastic opportunity for all our players, but our girls especially, to train alongside these pro athletes. So spread the word! Girls, feel free to bring a mate who isn't at the club yet – it's the perfect chance to see what our awesome sport is all about. Who knows, we might just spark some interest for girls teams next year.

For details on training over the rest of the holidays, please see your team pages or message your manager/coach.

For our Youth Players (13s & 15s):

No training this Monday and Tuesday, but keep an eye on your team group pages for details on a special midseason break-up session happening this Wednesday!

We can't wait to see you all there!

BEENLEIGH BUFFS WEEKEND WRAP

Well, we blew our weekend wrap budget out of the water last week with the Channel 7 broadcast crew. So we're bringing it back in-house as we proudly present this week's scintillating highlights of our Buffs junior and youth action. Please tag family and friends into the comments!

Auskick Transition Teams: Our Auskick Transition teams have had an amazing few weeks as they start to get the hang of this whole footy caper. The early mornings have been cold, but the on-field action has been hot, with our young Buffs doing beautifully with their marks, handballing, and kicking. Congrats to everyone in Team Teal and Yellow, and a big thanks to Coach Lynne for her efforts this week.

Under 8s: The Under 8s have also been growing from strength to strength in recent weeks. After thawing out in the cold Jimboomba air in Quarter 1, the team ran riot in the next three quarters. Congratulations to all players who helped derail the Redbacks’ freight train, with a special shout out to Levi for taking Player of the Match.

Under 10s: Back at Buffs home ground, our Under 10s played a great match against Springfield. Unfortunately, our visitors had a solid head clash between teammates that left a player needing stitches and a trip to the hospital, but we're happy to report he's doing well. Our Buffs' efforts on field were enormous this week, led by the bundle of energy that is Casey, whose efforts earned him the Player of the Match prize. Congratulations, Casey!

Under 13s: It was a tough Friday night clash for our 13s, with a red-hot Jimboomba home team proving too classy for our Buffs. There's lots for the team to work on, but adversity builds character and our Buffs won't shirk away from the challenge! Chase claimed the HitCafe Beenleigh Player of the Match honors for taking the game on in the second half, while Lachie’s efforts to block and scrap in the midfield earned him the Coaches Award.

Under 15s: Our 15s headed to Wynnum on Sunday morning, and while the scoreboard didn't go their way against the highly credentialed Vikings team, there were plenty of positives to take from the match. Despite being well short on numbers due to injury, the team battled on, welcomed yet another new recruit (hi Tom), and had standout games from Bailin (Coaches Award) and Linkin (Player of the Match).

Lots of milestones are coming up in the youth space, so watch out for next week's posts!
