The 22 Yards will be centre stage in the rebirth of the Game in the USA T20 World Cup. Providing the important facilities to support the Skills ex*****on and importantly the balance between Bat and Ball is integral to any ball sport when it comes to keeping the Players and Fans engaged.

As highlighted in the recent IPL the Pitch plays a huge part in keeping a fair fight between the Bat and Ball. This battle is not lost on the Fans who need to be kept guessing who is going to win right up until the final ball. Keeping the Fans on the edge of their seats will help seal the deal on where they will spend their Entertainment Time.

Agility and Adaptability are words used when discussing the Skills required in a Pace Bowler’s DNA. When turning to Science for help, it can not settle on one way to develop skills more effectively and efficiently but it does give guidance to help.

So if you can't practice everything what should you practice?

To be ready for every situation in the Game, the theory suggests it should be impossible to practice every situation long enough to become an expert because there are rarely any two situations the same.

Especial Skills and the thinking around Specific v Generalist Development Plans, when it comes to learning the Movement Skill to hit a Good Length with Pace and Movement, given your Pace Bowler's age, when is the best time to think about Especial Skills in your Training and Development Plans for your Intelligent Pace Bowling Movement Connoisseur?

Photos from Troy Cooley Coaching's post 30/11/2022

The especial skill effect is interesting because it reflects high levels of practice or expertise, it may serve as a marker in the development of motor skill expertise, and it may highlight noncognitive aspects of human motor control.

“Think Feel Do – make sure you use all your available options to successfully learn or teach a new skill. Art and Science to support your method”.

Is it the mind or the body or the environment that shapes the effective or efficient way to develop your intelligent pace bowling movement connoisseur skills?

Developing your Intelligent Pace Bowling Movement Conniousure Skill Task Analysis.

To perform motor skills, your brain, muscles, and nervous system must all work seamlessly together. Thus, your coordination is determined by how well you can use these motor functions to perform the desired task. The Transfer of Skills through the Stages of Learning can be influenced by practicing outside the Primary Skill Domaine.
Following the skill transfer rules, the closeness or overlap of one pattern to another is one way to think about what other skill is worth considering in moving away from the specific skill or specialisation practice to a more generalised approach to developing the skill you and your Pace Bowler feel they need to develop to improve their Performance.

Photos from Troy Cooley Coaching's post 10/11/2022

As research continues to look at how to practice developing skills more effectively and efficiently, Intelligent Motor Learning Pace Bowling Coaches need to find the answers to questions like, If I am going to use Non-specific Practice or Doner Sports in my Coaching -

"Are there any rules to follow in what skills transfer better to other skills when it comes to speeding up the successful ex*****on of the new or improved skill in the game?"

Thinking about Moving when Learning Skills and thoughts on what this might mean from the Coach's perspective?

Photos from Troy Cooley Coaching's post 26/10/2022

My advice.  Coaches and Players need to be Researchers. In their roles, the Coach is always looking for ways to help guide Pace Bowlers with the right attitude, work ethic and growth mentality to find ways to fulfil their needs – performance consistency!

My review summary of the New Theory is split into two perspectives.

Part 1. The Pace Bowler

Part 2. The Coach (and Coaching).

Your time invested in assessing this New Theory (or any research) is well spent regardless of your views on the message. My simple advice is for Coaches and Players to keep researching and adding knowledge to your ‘Becoming’ Process.

New Theory and Change.

Applying this New Theory and Change. How do you review performance when it doesn’t go to plan might be worth revisiting.

When measuring success. What are you using in your review process?

Photos from Troy Cooley Coaching's post 17/10/2022

Art and Science. Let’s not leave it up to an external computer to have the autonomy and all the fun in letting the ball fly!

Photos from Troy Cooley Coaching's post 12/10/2022

As research continues to look at how to practice developing skills more effectively and efficiently, Intelligent Motor Learning Coaching aims to help find the answers to questions like, “How do I know when to let the ball go” and “How do I find my rhythm”?

Under the Chef’s Hat is a skilled and trained cook. There are so many Skills on display in the JW Marriott Kitchen I wonder how they choose which skill to add to put out their menu each day to keep their guests happy!

I am always interested in how to develop skills to do tasks successfully and when it comes to the Chefs skills, the ‘proof is in the pudding’! For the Pace Bowler the measure of the success of their skill, the proof is in their performance.

Thanks for the Tempura Prawns Chef Dipanker and Chef Rama - this just happens to be one of my family's favourite dishes.

Reflecting on skill development, and how sometimes we forget how hard it is to change a skill, some super words of advice came back to me from my dearly departed friend, mentor and one of the best Coaches I’ve worked with Rod Marsh. After handing in my first report on Australia’s next Best Pace Bowlers at Australian Academy in 2000 He said to me, Great work Truck (My Kick Name). Can I suggest a few things (He always asked permission to give feedback), too many big words. Please remember who you are talking to and remember what you are coaching is complex so keep it simple enough mate for them to understand but remind them how hard they have to work to achieve it.

Since then, I’ve been continually conscious of this as I have imparted my knowledge and experience to help guide Pace Bowlers to develop the skills to be Intelligent Pace Bowling Movement Connoisseurs that can perform consistently and chase their dream.
