She’s definitely a unique choice that breaks from the mould of judges, generals, and ex-politicians. Member Highlight!

Our favourite composer and friend Alexander Voltz had the honour of addressing the Order of Australia Association’s King's Birthday Dinner last night in Brisbane, with Her Excellency Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, in attendance. He spoke about the relationship between monarchy and music, leaving guests with much food for thought:

"It is music, and art, that can bring us closer to the Crown. Because when the nation is stable and secure – and the Crown makes it so – art is provided the stage upon which to thrive. And when art thrives, those who allow it to do so, like constitutional monarchs, are exalted, because instead of manufacturing missiles or hoarding wealth, they prioritise a far nobler endeavour: the expression of the human condition. That expression, ladies and gentlemen, must always be our ultimate imperative."

Congratulations to everyone who received awards as part of the 2024 King's Birthday Honours and congratulations again to Alexander.

Monarchist Meme Monday!

Today is the “official” King’s Birthday and is the state celebration of the Sovereign across most of the Commonwealth.

In actuality HM The King was born Nov 14 but it’s marked in June to coincide with good weather in the UK to hold the Trooping of the Colour parade to mark the occasion. The exception being QLD (October) and WA (September) because the State Governments wanted to spread their public holidays over the year.

Congratulations to everyone receiving honours and awards today! Let us know in the comments if QLD and WA should have their own separate celebrations?

The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley joined Their Majesties The King and Queen at the United Kingdom’s National Event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Normandy.

3300 Aussies helped contribute to the D-Day landings in 1944. Thanks to their efforts and service to King and Country, we and our allies are able to live freely.
