Music is my life
I am not a musician but have made it my life mission to avidly support musicians and the arts.

Still one of my favourite all time albums
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. To this day, I feel honored to have been a part of such a groundbreaking album. Our goal at the time was to stretch the boundaries of the recording process, and in the process create something magical. And I think many will agree we achieved that goal. As engineer, I was grateful that the band was open to a number of my suggestions, which included the use of the clocks on the intro to Time, as well as utilization of a very talented vocalist who I had previously worked with named Clare Torry for the vocals on Great Gig in the Sky.
The fact that we are still talking about this album 50 years later is something I never would have dreamed possible. And yet, here we are….

Gone way too soon
Jimi Hendrix left us on this date in 1970. I got home from work in Boston in the afternoon that day and someone in my apartment building was blasting Jimi loud through open windows. It was so extreme I immediately knew Jimi must be dead. The radio, the only way to get news almost immediately then, confirmed it.
I saw Jimi play on June 27, 1970. I have been playing guitar for a few years, but looking straight at him, watching as closely as I could, I could not understand how his graceful hands were making the sounds that came out of his three Marshall amplifiers.
in 1973, I asked Muddy Waters if he knew Jimi. He said Jimi used to come to his shows in New York City, and even sit in. I would love to see a video of that. Muddy said Jimi wanted to join his band, ”but I already had someone.“
Jimi’s music was genius, beyond even what other geniuses were creating. His showmanship, getting wild while he played that amazing music, was also extreme. But according to interviews, video and in print, the showmanship was a trap for him. He said that after he burned his guitar onstage, his audience felt he was letting down if he didn’t do that every night. In an interview near the end of his life, I think I recall he said he wanted to change direction and create “sky church music.“
Who knows where he would have gone and what he would have done if he had a long life. I think this would literally be a different world — for the better.💙🙏 Thank you, Jimi Hendrix

Can’t wait to hear this but will be sad listening without Charlie
The Rolling Stones new album, Hackney Diamonds will be the band's first new LP in nearly two decades. Hackney Diamonds, which is an old East London slang for “broken glass,” will become the band's 31st studio album and their first with new music since 2005. It will also be their first album without founding drummer Charlie Watts who passed away at 80 in August of 2021. Charlie, you will never be forgotten 💎

Not my grandma but my grandkids will say this about me
–Your grandma wore very short mini skirts, thin panties, high boots, and no bra...
–She listened to Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, and Rolling Stones.
–She rode on motorcycles and fast cars.
–She smoked to***co and other things...
–She drank gin-tonics, whiskey, and whatever...
–She came home at 4 am and left for work in the morning...
Know that you will never be as cool as your grandma.

Vale Christine you will be missed but live on forever through your music
There was a sharp intake of breath here, upon hearing of the passing of Christine McVie. Pauline and I first saw her play in the band Chicken Shack, alongside Stan Webb. It was at the Railway Arms in Harrow. U.K. We were about 16 years of age then, I’d guess. This was around 1966. Her talent shone through quietly, even back then.
This was in an age where there just weren’t many ladies in blues or rock bands, but she had it all going on, even back then. The complete package. I’m so sad. She always balanced out the surfeit of egos in the much later incarnation of Fleetwood Mac that we all know so well today. Her beautiful songs and her voice will live on ❤️ R.I.P. ~ AP.
While revisionist blues historians like to make a big deal about either the lack of variety of his work or how later recordings turned him into a mere parody of himself, the public just couldn't get enough of it. Jimmy Reed placed 11 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts and a total of 14 on the charts, a figure that even a much more sophisticated artist like B.B. King couldn't top. To paraphrase the old saying, nobody liked Jimmy Reed but the people. by Cub Koda
