Janny's Creations
I am an artist who loves painting animals ... especially focusing on their expressions and developing their characters in paint.

Limited palette with no paint harmed in the creating of these paintings…
I used coffee (instant so nothing good was wasted 😜), beetroot, balsamic vinegar, wax and charcoal/ash from my fireplace …. It was fun! 😁
Day (assignment) 2. Second one - Painting with a palette knife using acrylics - first time for me, I normally use a brush, (sponge and scrapers and whatever for some semi-abstracts) apologies to my friend’s dog 😐
First one - Scribble art which I’d been meaning to try for a while. Nearly wrecked with colour..,
Third one I painted some years ago - a silky terrier, just used brushes - acrylic on small canvas
An abstract exercise today which was fun.
(This was my first day of the ‘Find Your Joy’ free online 8 day class with Louise Fletcher).
Yayyyy! I’ve just received the good news that my painting at the Ekka (Brisbane Royal Show) has been SOLD!
Yipeeeee !!!
This is my challenge to do something with a little painting I started playing with last year.
What I call an intuitive add & see’ (what happens) layer painting. This would be the third attack on the canvas, but my first addition for a year. The green one was where it was left (one of my many unfinished canvases) and time to do something about.
I’ve had lots of ideas for painting’s however no oomph to get started … this will hopefully get things happening at last 😄’
Emut the Emuzer is hanging around at the EKKA (Brisbane Royal Show), awaiting the crowds …
My latest painting, ‘Heidi Hi’ the highlen coo.
Acrylic on stretched canvas 60 x 60cm.
A different type of painting for me this time. I didn’t quite achieve the looseness I was after and I prefer the beginning to the final 😐. Live and learn…
Acrylic/mixed media on canvas board 25.5cm x 36cm.
An exercise in orange …
(Perhaps I’ll do a better painting with this idea some time…
‘Those Were the Days’. Dreaming of what could have been.
Watercolour / mixed media on watercolour paper, 30cm x 40.5 cm.
(In memory of the two beautiful border collies I’ve shared my life with).
Flight of Fancy
My latest painting just completed. I did this for a ‘Blue’ painting challenge.
Acrylic/mixed media on A3 size stretched canvas board.
A couple of paintings this week on a yellow theme (though the daisies lost some of that yellow).
Both A4 size watercolour/ mixed media on watercolour paper.
Little exercises in red for the first week of February A4 size acrylic & watercolour on watercolour paper …
'Night Stroll' - Here's the progress of this intuitive painting that I painted early last year.
A dark mysterious forest (with some night creatures) I had fun painting a few years ago. Acrylics applied by finger. Sold shortly afterwards.
My latest painting, just finished, guided loosely by one of my local forest photos.
Acrylics (with a tinsy dab of pastels) on 30.5cm square stretched canvas.
Here's a Christmas story I wrote a good few years ago.
(edited today).
I plan on getting back to painting in January & have a few ideas in mind.
Here’s a glimps at a some of my ‘extensive’ 🤣 Christmas decorations this year …
Oh dear, I go to less trouble every year 😁
Some of my creations are in these photos …
Two paintings, and the bears & bunnies in the basket.
As you will see, I like the rustic look and am an avid reader 😄
My artwork is in drought and I’m hoping to get back to painting again soon.
I’ve been doing desk- top publishing & sewing instead.
SOLD! Youve missed out! 😁
It’s a bit sad when one of my ‘family’ move away … however I console myself with my extra $$$’s
‘Big Daddy’ and emulets have moved to a new home! 😄
45.5cm x 91cm stretched canvas - artist quality acrylics & paint pens & sealed with a top quality Matt varnish.
I was 15 years old and sitting in a Maths exam when I drew this on my writing pad. I had to do something seeing I couldn’t answer the questions!
When my Maths teacher walked by and saw my drawing he asked me to put it away … luckily I’d finished it by then 😁
As you have already guessed … I wasn’t tuned in to maths …
I designed & made the grey rabbit numerous years ago & some time later drew her. For the smaller bunny I slightly altered a pattern giving it larger back feet.
The tree house was made of papier mache ‘clay’ laboriously made from strips of newspaper soaked, strained & pounded to a paper clay then glue added. This clay was put into a chicken wire frame. The floors are Masonite and on the inside walls I used plaster - first house I’ve ever plastered!
My cat of the time took up residence when my daughters outgrew it … he wasn’t at all careful with the furniture arrangement …
Introducing Calico, an original ‘lightweight’ heavy horse made out of calico cotton with unraveled macrame yarn for mane & tail. I designed & drew the pattern making him out of calico initially just as a test piece to see and then improve the pattern, before making the final in velvet, which however never eventuated because I like him in calico 😄 (so I didn’t get round to making any improvements) …
Acrylic painting using a limited palette (Cadmium red & yellow, black & titanium white) 30cm x 40cm.
I like the mystery of the first day’s additions to my black gesso’d canvas.
‘Big Daddy’ - My latest painting
FOR SALE at the Brisbane EKKA in August.
Acrylics/mixed media on stretched canvas
45.7 x 93.4cm (18”x 36”).
I created this one especially to enter into the Brisbane show (Ekka).
Different to anything I’ve done before …
Presently working on a new painting…
Watch this space and one day the whole thing will materialise… (I’m doing it slowly.. ).
Just plodding along enjoying the process 🙂
‘New Day Dawning’
My latest painting just finished (unless I see something I think needs doing 😜).
Acrylics on canvas (40.5x30.5cm).
My latest drawing just completed. This portrait was started upside down with all the main outline& features - it’s a great way to focus in on the subject. It was completed right way up.
A4 paper & colour pencils.
‘Portrait of a Girl’
Watercolour pencils & soft pastels on A3 buff coloured pastel paper. I’ve not managed to capture the sweet innocent look of this 3 year old. I’m hopefully learning from my mistakes 😜
As for using pastels for portraits … I’ll leave that to other artists 😄. I’ll buy a good set of colour pencils which I may be able to operate better 😁
So, I’m not all that happy with it … onward & upward 😁
Very different today as I experimented with ‘word-art’ 😜 (pity he ended up with a square head 😁).
Black & brown pen & pencils on A4 paper.
