Moon Landing July 20th 1969
Today is Saturday, July 20th * 1969 - NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration​ Apollo 11's crew successfully makes the first manned landing on the Moon * 1919 - Edmund Hillary born, he passed away 11 years ago Edmund Hilary was part of the team that first reached the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. There aren't photos of Edmund up there because a) Sherba Tenzing Norgay couldn't use a camera or b) Hilary chose not to be photographed. The photo of Tenzing Norgay holding his axe is pretty neat though, even neater is the date/event symmetry of reaching the highest point on earth and landing on the moon. The Moon Landing happened 50 years ago today, this is being marked in many ways around the world and deservingly so. Maybe people will get to Mars one day or further? Rather than a image today we have a brief video from the Moon Landing as seen and heard around the planet on one of our televisions.
