WOW Wipes a Disruptive Innovation

WOW WIPES versus Traditional DISINFECTANT SPRAY and PAPER TOWELS – ‘Disruptive Innovation’ is a phrase that refers to an innovation that creates a new market and value network, and in doing so eventually disrupts and sometimes eliminates an existing market...

We have been manufacturing and supplying WOW Wipes for over 7 years to the Australian marketplace, predominantly to health and fitness businesses. Other markets such as government, hospitality, education, and even building and contracting are also starting to see the benefits compared to traditional methods. Spray bottles/paper towels are still in use, but it is clear that consumers prefer WOW Wipes, and it is equally clear that businesses are recognising this.

TIME is MONEY:

There are shifts, trends, and "disruptors" in ALL markets. It is said that we are in the 17th year of a 50-year "Digital Revolution", and some companies are turning a blind eye, or ignoring the new "Digital Age". Such companies run a very real risk of being left behind, and losing their customers attention in this rapidly changing environment.

A good example is Marketing. Methods such as billboard, newspaper, and radio, are in steep decline. Even email marketing is slowly dying, and email open rates are at an all time low. People's attention span seems to be less than a FISH these days!

Social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, and of course LinkedIn are the new advertising platforms.

Traditional ways of attempting a task, whether it be Marketing (offline v online), the way you do your banking (going into the bank v online banking), they way you purchase your groceries (in the store or online), or EVEN the way you clean down your equipment has changed. People are time poor, and "Convenience" is a highly sought after commodity as most people these days are just SO time poor. We here at WOW WIPES are contributing to giving people back their time. Even if it’s just a few minutes a day, this adds up.

We CARE about your INVESTMENT:

I've never encountered a Gym, or Fitness Centre who didn't want to offer WOW Wipes, but we do see some that fear the perceived additional cost required.

The best thing I could do to better help prospective customers take the leap was to do some research around the value that WOW Wipes bring to a facility. After doing that research, speaking with current customers, gym members, and other industry professionals I have found that WOW Wipes are best viewed as an Investment not an Expense.

Value of WOW Wipes:

It's no doubt that people prefer the convenience of wipes vs using disinfectant spray and paper towels for just about any cleaning task these days. In several surveys over 90% of gym goers expressed a preference to using Wipes instead of spray bottles/paper towels to clean equipment after usage.

From a conveniences standpoint, this would also mean that your members are more likely to clean the equipment before/after usage if they have wipes available to them. Given that a clean facility is one of the most important factors to attracting and retaining members, this should create added value to members, and lead to some sort of growth in your membership base. Let's say it helps you attract or maintain 5 members a year. At an average membership cost of $65 per month before you know it wipes will be paying for themselves and more.

Then there is equipment maintenance. Spraying chemicals directly onto electronic panels and touch screens is harmful to the internal electronics, and can be a nightmare for service technicians to fix if the spray liquid gets into the consoles etc..

Overspray getting into gears, glides, and other parts may also lead to increased maintenance costs, even more so if your maintenance agreement is in its extention years (5 years +) and now time and materials is at your cost!

WOW Wipes have been endorsed and approved by leading fitness equipment manufacturers. They will not damage equipment surfaces, and will save you on maintenance costs in the long run. Importantly they will extend the useable life of your largest investment.

Cost of WOW Wipes:

The cost per application of spray bottles/paper towels vs WOW Wipes is similar, and sometimes less than wipes. But what must be taken into account is the time spent handling chemical solutions, locating lost spray bottles, the risk of improper dilution leading to a formula that is too weak, or even worse too strong, and the cost of spray bottles. Paper towels aren't getting any cheaper, laundering towels is expensive, not to mention the added time for cleaners or staff in disposing of bags and bags of paper towels, and in most cases bins overflow and cause all sorts of lint, dust and shredded paper to spread further. It's really a vicious circle.

WOW Wipes dispensers are quick and simple to refill. A "Set and Forget Solution"

Environmental Sustainability:

WOW Wipes are Eco-friendly. We use two different types of substrates depending on which line is used. Our PREMIUM 810's and MAXX-pack 1200's use a plant based wood pulp fabric, and our Office wipes use 100% biodegradable Bamboo fabric.

Summary:

Providing spray and paper towels for your customers to clean after themselves is still a significant cost for your business. It is an expense that provides an outdated, inconvenient, and generally unpopular system for staff and members.

WOW Wipes on the other hand are a proven investment that members love, your facility will be consistently cleaner, you should receive less complaints about gross sweaty equipment, and importantly your equipment is likely to last longer.

Once businesses start using WOW Wipes, very few switch back to spray and towels – this fact speaks volumes about the value of WOW Wipes.
