Haunting Adeline - H. D. Carlton

Dark romance has me in a choke hold, whereas H. D. Carlton is holding me against a tree at the same time (iykyk)

I'm giving it a four over a three purely because of the detail in the spicy scenes, definitely more plot over s**t tho, even if it's hot af

Before I go any further, I want to clarify that you must read the trigger warnings for this book and take them to heart as they aren't there for no reason. This book can be very graphic depending on your triggers. Your mental health comes first always x

I feel like this book has made me realise I need therapy bahaha
I've only just started getting into dark romance, Satan's Affair being my first (highly recommend reading SA first as HA spoils it). This was dark, creepy, and thrilling at the same time as being hot, intense and emotional.
The only thing I did not like was not having Hunting Adeline at the time of finishing this one as its a major cliffhanger. So heads up before you read, make sure you own both or you will have to sit at your front door waiting like a starving lion for the second book to arrive (This comes from personal experience).
This book really is a mindf**k too as it makes you feel bad for Addie, but also want the bad things to happen to her since Zade is such a green/red flag at the same time. Definitely makes you rethink what your morals are.
The characters are extremely well written, Addie and Zade will make you fall in love with their "relationship" as well as their own characters.
I also love the murder mystery aspect throughout the book and the presence of ghosts as I wasn't expecting that, RIP GIGI ❤

I personally loved loved this book as it had the exact things I'm into and my favourite princess was Jasmine.

This book is nearly all s**t, fast paced plot

I was gifted this book from the wonderful Adrienne () and decided even though my TBR list is already huge, I was drawn to push this one to the front due to it's size, blurb, and the cover. I already knew Katee was a highly rated author so it made it 10 times better to know she wrote this ❤️

If you love books where the hero gets the girl, run along now. The Villain is the winner here.

Jasmine has been locked away by her father for her whole life, to only be moved to another prison. To her she is a mere pawn in the game of royalty and power, however, Jafar wants a lot more than that. He wants everything from her. He even takes her virginity in the first chapter, after a chase of course, this is one of many CNC acts that happen throughout this book.

The only downside to this book was the plot was very rushed, and the final scene I feel could've had a bit more character development prior to make it seem a little bit more realistic.

As for the spice, this was one of the spiciest books I've read in a while, there is a fantastic exhibitionist scene that made you feel as if people were watching you. It also delves into MFF which is one of my favourites.
