The Women's Metro NW team played Sunshine Hockey Club at Footscray and we lost 1-2. Sunshine had 10 players and played a brilliant tactical game to win the points. It was a 1st vs 3rd on the table clash and we are matching it with the best.
Final game on Friday night was U16 Shield Boys who faced Footscray. Tough night against a highly-rated team, we fought hard but went down 5-0.
Onwards and upwards Wickers!
Third Friday game was U16 Shield girls who won 2-0 against KBH Brumbies, who put up a great defence. Great to see Leah back from injury π
ππ Go Wickers! ππ
Second up on Friday night were the U14 Shield Girls, who played a disciplined, skilful game to win 6-1 against KBH Brumbies.
Well done girls- Go Wickers!
On painfully cold & windy Friday night we had four home games and hereβs the first.
The U14 Pennant boys had a great 5-1 win against Melton who to their credit never stopped fighting. Several players doubled up on the last (16s) game of the evening but most sensibly went home to warmth in between!
Go Wickers! ππ

Just a few more shots from our VL Reserves game last Sunday 14th July. Snapped a photo of the scoreboard during the 3rd qtr, lucky this was the final score for the game. Yarra were celebrating NAIDOC Round & our young player Libby Summerfield was chosen by the umpires to be awarded the medal. Congrats to Libby & the team.
Last but not least at 5pm on Saturday 13th July came Brunswickβs Metro NW. Currently placed 3rd on the ladder the team had a fantastic game against Altona HC coming away with a 6-2 win. The rain had been threatening to arrive & unfortunately it did π§οΈπ§οΈ but this crew just kept running & scoring goals ππ
