MEET THE MATRIARCH​​​​​​​​​
We teamed up with fashion designer and Photographer to shoot and interview midwifery pioneer, Mira Stannard. We all share a special connection to Mira, who delivered our respective babies and is also the grandmother of Tiger Frame's founding director, Komala Frame.​​​​​​​​​

Interview with Mira:

1) Tell us a little about your journey as a midwife and advocate for home birthing.

M) Having had 4 births in a hospital I vowed one day I would help women to have natural empowering births in their own environment & to welcome the baby gently into love & warmth. With my beloved partner Tansen we established Birth & Beyond in Nimbin in the 70’s to provide home births & a support system for families & the community. Since then we traveled the world speaking at conferences, giving seminars & delivering thousands of babies.

2) What has been your most treasured memory as a midwife?
Each birth is magical, the wonder of completion, the baby conceived, grown in & born from the woman’s body & returned to her loving arms in a loving environment.

M) A special joy for me had been the gift of being a midwife to several of my grandchildren & great-grandchildren. With the recent births of 2 great great grandchildren we are now 5 generations.

3) What keeps you inspired and supports your passions and creativity?

M) Although I am in my 87th year I feel gratitude and joy for my life. I live in the moment experiencing whatever changes life offers, feeling & receiving so much love.

4) How would you describe your style and what is it about Tiger Frame jewellery that resonates with you?

M) My style is natural, flowing & relaxed. I love kaftans & shirts made from beautiful textiles.
I feel so empowered when I wear tiger frame jewellery. Each piece, each stone, and each collection has a mystical energy that radiates love, light, and beauty.
