Children's Medical and Research Institute are motivated to find treatments for the genetic diseases that impact children, including cancer, cystic fibrosis, metabolic, and uncommon disorders by our long history of addressing the most significant health challenges that affect kids.
Statistics say 1 in 20 children have a genetic disorder or birth defect and the leading cause of death in children aged 4 to 14 is cancer, which is brought on by genetic alterations.
Genetic disorders account for 30% of all admissions to paediatric hospitals.

Finding the right people for your team is the difference between winning and losing - in all avenues of life, from sports, to relationships, to business!

When you’re outsourcing key tasks for your business, there are a few things that you should ask of yourself and of the people you are considering for any role.

You have to start with answering the question: “what are MY goals?” Not having clarity around what you want your business to achieve, in the short term and long term, means that you’re much less likely to be able to have a list of criteria against which you can measure how well someone and their services fit you.

Once you know what you want your business to achieve, you are in a position to make an itemised list of some of the services that you would ideally like your employee or contractor to be able to render for you. Sure, experience matters, but someone who is experienced in things that you don’t really need performed is potentially less valuable than developing a working relationship with someone who is new to or learning the skills your specific business needs.

And of course, you want to work with people who share your vision for what your workplace will look like, and this cuts both ways. If you value balance and wellbeing, for example, make sure to have a discussion about things like boundaries around personal time.

It is so easy to waste time, when you don't have proper strategies in place to manage it.

There are a number of approaches to structuring your time, and one of the most popular is the Pomodoro Technique.

Have you heard of that before? It's where you structure whatever time you have for a given task into half hour chunks, cycling through working for 25 minutes and taking a 5 minute break.

Many people find this really helps them sustain their focus and maintain energy throughout their work or study day!

How do you greet the new financial year?

I think as business owners, there's a real mix of worry and excitement as June 30th approaches every year.

Tax season is... well, taxing time-wise and energy-wise (and money-wise, if you haven't stayed on top of it throughout the year). But - it is also a time to reassess and redirect.

Do you take this time to look back on what you have done well in the past financial year, and reflect on what lessons you have learnt that you can take into the new one?
