Little dancers dream of the day they get their first pointe shoes. When did you get your first pointe shoes? How did they make you feel?

Focus and concentration! Love it! In children's fast paced lives, it's so very good for them to take part in activity such as classical ballet, that required them to slow down and concentrate.

Beginning plies. Every ballet class from the beginners first class to advanced, starts with a plie exercise. Plie means to bend and it is an opening of the knees outwards, warming up the groin, knees, ankles and achilles. For correct technique we need to activate the deep outward rotators to keep the knees tracking over the toes on the bend. The arches of the feet also need to be pulled up, with the weight over the 3 points of balance (the big toe, the little toe and the heel) to avoid pronation or rolling inward of the feet. Wow - so much to think about.
