I’m at this point now where I’m just ready to get into life. I’m working on a new business, something I’m passionate about in the events sector. I love entertaining people, I love cooking. So I’m merging two of my favourite things in life. 💜🤩

If you’re reading this right now it means that you are seeing me at the beginning of my new life. A new life that I’m actively seeking out. To be honest, it’s mostly just my old life with a few tweaks, but I’m taking things in a new direction.

I just got out of hospital, after a one month stint after an incident where I nearly died (my own fault), and whilst I was in there I had had an epiphany…. that I don’t want to live in this miserable cycle that I have been in anymore. I want to chase my dreams and goals, focus on the positive in my life (because there really is so much), instead of focusing on the negative, relish in the little moments of magic that occur on a daily basis, from the kind smile of a stranger, to dressing up for no reason but to just have fun, marvelling at the flowers, or the pavement just after it’s rained and the suns come out, and capture those moments, reminding myself that life is in fact worth living.

I’m starting this page not only as a daily reminder of all of the great things in this life, but also keep me accountable, that rock bottom doesn’t need to happen to live like this, I’m choosing from now on to wake up every day and choose happiness, I’m choosing to live.

I know there will be hard days, and that’s ok. S**t happens, and it’s ok to be sad. But I have been wallowing in sadness for years, my daily uniform; leggings and a hoodie (this applied to winter, spring, autumn AND summer). Self care went out the window, I gained 25kgs, numbing my pain instead of dealing with it, and all my goals for the future had ceased.

As they say, I’m ready to “grab life by the balls” 😂, I want to remind myself of the beautiful things in my life, I want a magical, sparkling, fresh start, to make my dreams come true, gratitude for what I have and get up and start doing the best for myself and others.

A Japanese proverb; A quote by Xan Oku that is a gentle reminder of how life’s beautiful things come after the necessary “rain.”

Getting organised really is a sign of self respect. I know for myself anyway, when I don’t sit down and plan out what I’m doing. I.e. have it in my calendar, my notes, and my diary at the start of the day (what my plan of attack will be for the day) I’m just flapping all over the place. It’s just essential for me to be organised to be productive, and when we’re productive, we’re successful. 💚

My husband and I back in Fiji this year for my bday. 🤍

How grateful I am to have met someone who builds me up, supports me, is always by my side through the hard times, is emotionally available, tells me I’m beautiful every-single-day, even after 8 years and even during the bouts of months of depression where I have been wearing the same dirty clothes, unwashed hair, and having gained a bunch of weight, not feeling beautiful at all. He still tells me.
I ensured my standards were vey high going into this relationship, I made it very clear that I won’t put up with any abuse (emotional, physical, intellectual, or otherwise), I dont have the time, nor the patience to deal with emotionally unintelligent or unavailable people, or people who don’t communicate. I also believe it’s healthy to have alone time and quality time together.

I also learnt, from a beautiful lesson my Aunty taught me once when I asked how she and my uncle had made their relationship last this long (20+ years) and seem so happy, she said to me “no one is perfect. You will have things that p**s you off about your partner. You need to figure out if they are deal breakers or not, and if not, learn to deal with them”. I will never forget this lesson. I thought it was so profound. What a blunt, yet wonderful and simple revelation to come across. Basically, don’t let those little annoyances be the demise of your relationship. She’s a wise one my Aunty.

What is it? It’s removing the decision making process at the time so you can reserve your energy.

You ever feel really flustered and overwhelmed when you need to make a decision as simple as what to wear or what to eat? Its about pre-planning these things out, to remove that stress. Seems like over kill, but my god has it changed my life.

It’s something I’ve found so interesting of late and have been really reading into it, and dare I say, that most of us probably suffer from this.

Brain fatigue is when we are faced with so many decisions throughout the day that we get overloaded. You know that brain fog feeling? Of course this can be caused by a number of things, but minimising the time spent on how the basic things we have to each day by pre-planning them out, can drastically reduce our brain fatigue.

For example, we know that the three main things in life that GIVE us energy (should be do carry them out correctly) is our diet, exercise and sleep.

So here’s what I do for example:

SLEEP: I have a bed time of 9pm (I set an alarm to remind me) and despite what I’m doing I go to bed at that time.

DIET: Every Saturday I do the groceries. I put aside some time during the week to plan my meals for the following week, or I will dedicate one full chunk of time on a Saturday prior to my shop to meal prep. Then on Sunday, I meal prep for the week. Tip: it’s really simple, but if you’re looking to lose weight, protein and veggies. It’s the easiest way to meal prep for weight loss.

EXERCISE: Again, this goes straight into my diary. I will pre-book Pilates sessions, 30min workouts at home, walks, all of this does into the diary.

** Your diary is your biggest asset when it comes to this. I recently watched an interview with Gary Vee, and he said that he has EVERYTHING in his diary, from when to eat to everything mentioned above.

I feel like we live in a society that unapologetically pushed the hustle to the point that we burn out, or lose interest in the things we love. Rest is such an important part of staying healthy. The three key things that have changed my whole mental space around is 1) My Diet - eating healthier 2) Working out More 3) Getting enough sleep.

Not to say I’m perfect in the working out and eating department, but I’ve noticed that I won’t quit all together if I fall off the wagon, it’s just straight back on. My bad self talk, no self hate, just keep on keeping on.

One thing I’ve drastically changed is have a set bedtime every night (no matter how sucked into a show on Netflix I get 😂) and having a set wake up time. This routine has changed my life in such amazing ways, I have so much more ‘me’ time in the mornings, I can set myself up for the day, I’m clear headed as I’ve had a good sleep. A good rest. 😌

As the great Dr James DinNicolantonio said… “If you have to choose, SLEEP is more important than exercise. Being sleep deprived increasing cravings, decreases willpower & destroys your metabolism.

If skipping a workout means you’ll get more sleep and eat healthier that day, it’s worth it”

As long as we can find the inner strength to shed the toxic habits that are keeping us from our greatest self, we can be whatever we want. We are capable of being successful beyond our wildest dreams. Whatever success looks like to you. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

08/05/2023

Why do we sometimes punish ourselves for what happened to us in the past? For what others did to us? For what others did to hurt us?
Just because it made them feel stronger in the moment, made them feel better bringing someone smaller down.

Remember, they are the weak ones. It can be heavy to hold at times, don’t forget how strong you are… but we can let it go now… when you’re ready.

We all know this right… easier said than done, you say?
For me, I figured out what was holding me back.. what was taking up my tube, Mental space, causing me to spend copious amount of money and not be the person I wanted to be. That happened to be alcohol.
For some, it might be other toxic relationships, with people, maybe food, there are many things that we could improve in our lives if we make the change. For me, it was alcohol, and everything had seemed to follow suit, I’ve started working out 3-5 times a week (and enjoying it), I’ve found things I enjoy like tennis and Pilates, I’ve started doing more crafts, reading more, cooking beautiful healthy meals, gardening, catching up with more friends (and remembering the time together). This is the best change I have ever made.

Rather than focusing your energy on feeling sorry for yourself and what you don’t have, start focusing on what you want.

I believe that self pity is a breeding ground for excuses. Once we start makes excuses we can’t move forward toward the life we want.
Now that’s not to say that we can’t have empathy towards ourselves when times get tough, nor that we shouldn’t rest when our mind and bodies are telling us to. I’m talking about the ‘rut’ that we get into when we are in constant “feeling sorry for ourself” mode. I did this for years… and guess what? It didn’t work. It didn’t work at all. Only when I started to get up, get into the day, put down the bottle as a self medicating resource and started getting psychically active (even 20mins a day - doesn’t have to be hard, even just a walk or some gentle stretching), writing down my gratitude and goals list every morning (there is IMMENSE power in writing down your goals and gratitudes - reference Jim Carey, Oprah, Lady Gaga, Will Smith, Ariana Grande,). Some call it manifesting, others call it the law of attraction, there are a million names for it, and there are millions of people who have tried and tested this. When we have a goal, write it down every day, almost obsessively, you will ultimately achieve that goal.
Rather than focusing your energy on feeling sorry for yourself and what you don’t have, start focusing on what you want.

Dear Me,
I’m sorry for being so cruel to you, for not believing in you and for not having your back when others were cruel or doubted you.
I’m sorry for not looking after you properly, the way I know I should have.
I’m sorry for calling you fat and ugly.
I’m sorry for being your biggest bully.
I’m sorry that I put you in danger and physically hurting you.
I’m so sorry for not believing in you.
I’m sorry for wasting so much of your time.
I’m sorry for letting other people use you and walk all over you.
But most of all, I’m truly, utterly sorry for not loving you.
Love,
Me
Dear Me,

I forgive you.

Love,
Me

The Little Things. They aren’t Little.
Gratitude: a perspective.

Oh boy do we take things for granted. We have a choice in life, we can wake up, complain, set up our day for negativity and pessimistic mental torture, or we can look around at what we are grateful for. There are SO many things to be grateful for in life, the vast majority of us reading this now, are rich in so many ways, and have the ability to change the things we are unhappy with. For the moment, let’s just stop and be grateful for 3 things we have in this life. I sit down every morning with my little book, and I write down what I’m grateful for, just three things, sometimes more. It’s my little morning ritual. I grab a cup of tea, sit on my couch, get my little book and focus on what I’m happy about. No matter what health problems I have, no matter what dramas I have going on, no matter how crap I feel, I try my best to focus on at least 3 things. I promise it sets you up for a fabulous day.

07/05/2023

I wish I could remember where I got this quote from so I could give the proper credit (please tell if you do know). I feel like I heard it in a speech or something recently. All I know is that is resonated so clearly with me. My father has always said to me “things have a way of working out”, and they have. That isn’t to say that things haven’t gone horrendously awful at times, or that life has been perfect, but I do believe that simply having that faith, that things will work out, does give us the mind set that things do work out. Or we can at least sit with it better, and as a result, we can cope. ☺️🫶🏼
