– Differentiated winning rail submission bids;
– Enabled the architects’ and engineers’ vision to be realised in construction; and
– Reduced engineering, procurement & construction activities.

Leveraging the benefits of our unique heavy lift fleet and early engagement with our clients, our solutions have helped to address many of the challenges associated with typical metro projects including:
– High-density urban areas;
– Small site footprints with congested operations;
– Heavy structural components – steelwork and pre-cast concrete;
– High-volume construction; and
– Heavy plant install & removal.

Two years ago today, Turkey’s 1915Çanakkale Bridge opened more than 12 months ahead of schedule – and we are proud of the role we played in making that happen. When the DL E&C–Limak–SK ecoplant–Yapi Merkezi Joint Venture (DLSY JV) won the contract to construct the Bridge, they had a clear idea about how they wanted to build the project, but they needed a craneage partner who could think outside the box to bring that vision to life. Through working directly and collaboratively with DLSY JV’s project team on the front-end engineering design, we developed a non-traditional craneage methodology that met all the project requirements and allowed DLSY JV to construct the bridge towers in the way they wanted. “The unparalleled lifting capacity of our M2480Ds was a game changer for the project but it was getting us involved early in the design stage that was the key to success,” said Marr’s Managing Director, Simon Marr. Kangaroo Point Green Bridge has reached a new construction milestone with the final piece of the 95-metre-tall mast centrepiece installed by Marr Contracting’s #M2480D tower crane working on the project. Located on Brisbane’s busy river, the key challenge for the project was how to construct the bridge mast the while minimising potential impacts on the public ferries and private vessels that use the Brisbane River daily. The BESIX Watpacled consortium, Connect Brisbane, who is delivering the project on behalf of Brisbane City Council engaged Marr early in the design phase to develop a lifting strategy that supported their preferred construction methodology and addressed the challenges of constructing the 95-metre-tall mast. According to BESIX Watpac Project Director, Rowan Riggall, “Our in-house engineering team was instrumental in identifying this crane at tender phase as the preferred lifting solution for the project. After comparing barge crane and tower crane options, the team confirmed the M2480D was the most suitable crane in the Australian market capable of lifting the fully assembled mast head.” Working with Marr’s Brisbane-based engineers, Robert Bird Group Marr developed a solution using an M2480D Heavy Lift Luffing (HLL) tower crane with a 64-metre-long boom installed on a platform in the middle of Brisbane River. This configuration allowed the 25-metre-tall pre-fabricated steel masthead weighing 180 tonnes to be lifted to a height of 95 metres – a feat that wouldn’t have been possible using a more traditional approach of crawler cranes. The lift was the heaviest to be undertaken as part of Marr’s scope of work including more than 10 major lifts and general construction lifting requirements over a period of 12 months. “Reaping the benefits of modularised construction with fewer, heavier lifts is not only helping to deliver a safer, more productive site; but also allowing our client to share the economic benefit delivered by the

Construction of Kangaroo Point Green Bridge’s impressive mast is underway with the lower legs and cruciform now in place. Once complete, the 95m tall mast will be the centrepiece of this iconic piece of infrastructure we are working with BESIX Watpac on to deliver this project for Brisbane City Council. #marrcontracting #marrcranes #towercranes #heavylifting #bridgeconstruction

CASE STUDY: WADANGGARI PARK, SYDNEY When we talk about removing construction complexity by using the right cranage solution, this is the kind of challenge we are referring to. A bold initiative by Lane Cove Council, partially funded by the NSW Government’s Public Spaces Legacy Program, Wadanggari Park is a transformative over-rail plaza and a triumph in terms of urban design. But for the design engineers at Aurecon, it was a difficult construction challenge. Envisaging a pre-cast construction methodology, they were faced with the dilemma of how to build the project and turned to Marr for a solution. ‘Congested’ is an understatement when it comes to describing the limited space available on this site. Wedged between high-rise buildings, one of Australia’s busiest arterial roads and spanning a major rail corridor on Sydney’s northern train line, the site has an area of approximately seven metres wide in which to establish a crane capable of lifting precast elements weighing up to 150 tonnes, across a 95-metres-long by 30-metres-wide rail cutting. Working with Aurecon over 18 months we designed a solution which gave the engineers the confidence that their design concept could be constructed, and our solution became part of the tender package for the build phase of the project. Installing one of our #M2480D Heavy Lift Luffers on a bespoke compact piled foundation with a 64-metre boom provided Head Constructor, Arenco, with the unique combination of the M2480D’s heavy lifting capacity and small footprint (equivalent to two passenger cars parked side-by-side). According to Senior Project Manager at Aurecon, Paul Fitzgerald, "Marr’s M2480D tower crane provided an extremely efficient craneage solution that maximised the available time for construction works during the rail corridor shutdowns and ultimately delivered program benefits throughout the duration of the project." Working with Multiplex, we've recently completed another #datacentre construction project for NEXTDC on the S3 Sydney Data Centre. By removing complexity, Marr's approach to cranage for the data centre sector aims to accelerate construction by increasing efficient access to multiple work fronts, while at the same time reducing the total number of cranes on a project. By employing the Marr Lifting Platform (MLP) system we've helped Multiplex reduce the number of critical path lifts required by providing the capability to lift in data centre skids as well as larger and heavier precast components, pre-assemblies and modules - such as generators, air-conditioning systems and data banks - in a single lift. The MLP technology was originally developed over 20 years' ago in response to the challenge of removing old air-conditioning systems and replacing them with new generation chillers through the same access in high-rise buildings. Now adapted to the data centre and technology sector, the MLP system enables our clients to construct the building shell in parrallel with the end-client working on the construction of the interior. The end result is a shortened timeframe from construction to a market-ready product. #marrcontracting #marrcranes #multiplex #nextdc #towercranes #heavylifting #datacentreconstruction
