Wear it Purple Day aims to create a inclusive and safe environment for LGBTQIA+ youth.

By wearing purple we hope to show rainbow youth that they have the right to be proud of who they are, and that they are seen, supported and respected.

🌈 1. Think about what you say!
Words can hurt people as easily as they can uplift people. Before
you say something, think about its meaning.

🌈 2. Let people know!
If you hear something offensive, stop the person and gently let them know. They may not realise what they’re saying.

🌈 3. Use inclusive language!
Gendered language can exclude people (and get awkward!). Rather than assuming someone’s gender (like “girlfriend” or “husband”), try a gender neutral alternative.

🌈 4. Respect identities!
It sounds simple, but use language that is respectful. If you don’t understand someone’s identity, then take the time to learn.

🌈 5. Report bad language!
It’s okay if you’re not comfortable confronting someone – let a leader, manager or teacher know.
