At the MDGC 2024 AGM on 18/3/24 MDGC awarded Life Membership to the very deserving Jeff Brunsting. Congratulations from all of us Jeff. The Life Membership Award was announced by one of MDGC's founders, Paul Arden, and the nomination reads as follows: "Jeff’s tireless efforts to promote, develop and expand the sport of Disc Golf in Melbourne have benefited us all, as well as Disc Golfers from across the country who visit our increasing number of courses, events and outreach activities. While it is undoubtedly a team effort, Jeff deserves high praise for being a consistent presence, bringing the right people together to get things done. Jeff has worn all of the club’s hats at one time or another; from leading the club, to tournament director, creating prizes, bag tags and impressing everyone he meets with his enthusiasm for this great sport. No one is looking forward to Jeff taking a step back, but we all hope that this means he gets to spend more time playing in the Disc Golf future he helped to create." At the AGM Jeff officially announced that was resigning as President and stepping away from the Board. He is calling 2024 his "Gap Year" where he can focus on playing events and tournaments and volunteering where he can. One of the surprises of the meeting was a video from one of MDGC's founders, Greg Bowers who now lives in the US. More news about the AGM will be coming soon - in the meantime - we offer our thanks again to Jeff as he continues his disc golf journey.
Club players try their hand at circus skills during our recent come and try day at Little Blind Creek in Melton!
It's Day Three at the Vic Open, and what better way to kick it off than with the iconic Tania Behan battle cry! In her last Vic Open before she moves north, Tania is primed for a final day charge. There is going to be a huge hole MDGC when Tania moves to Queensland, but the boys in MA4 are pretty glad she is taking Eamesy with her :) Go well! #123RIP!
Just wow - yesterday at the Come ‘n Try, our member Jack Brooks unveiled his amazing invention (patent pending). The ’Putting Practice Return Device’ saves so much time and energy. Jack’s looking for a better name for the device and said he would be happy to share some of the royalties for anyone who comes up with a great name and acronym. 🥏⭐️😳
To all our friends and families far and wide - Seasons Greetings, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas - we hope you have an Ace day.
