Sorry this page is so quiet. proceed to Dr Desiree Yap for the moment.
Congratulations to Dr Desiree Yap for being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2020 Australia Day Honours, for significant service to women’s health and medicine.
Over her impressive clinical career, Desiree assisted in establishing Australia’s first early menopause clinic here at Monash Health and has made valuable contributions to the wider menopause unit, which now also cares for women with menopause after cancer and has a stream for the long term care of women with Turner’s Syndrome.
Outside of her clinical practice, Desiree is a passionate advocate for women’s and children’s health as well as the professional development of women in medicine at state, national and international levels.
Desiree considers her important work as a continuation of what was started by the founders of Queen Victoria Hospital (a forebear of Monash Health) who were also the founders of the Victorian Medical Women’s Society in 1896. She plans to continue with this work and hopes that this recognition elevates women’s health issues to be more widely heard in the community.
Please join us in congratulating Desiree on this exciting achievement.
