The St George’s Cathedral bell will toll 107 times tomorrow during the 10.15am Eucharist prayers to honour the memory of the 107 people who were homeless or had experienced homelessness and lost their lives in Western Australia in 2022.

We will have a candle burning in memorial throughout the day and a prayer station set up for personal devotion.

The date for the event was chosen to coincide with the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, representing the harsh conditions faced by people experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough on Perth’s streets.

This is an initiative of St Bart's, provider of accommodation and outreach services for Western Australians experiencing homelessness and hardship.

Our musical traditions here are rich. To maintain and grow them we are in need of a broader base of people to sustain it.

Particularly welcome will be voices for the choir and those who can accompany the hymns. Please speak to Muriel or Keith. The choir will recommence its practices this Thursday (15th) at 7.30pm.

Collect

God of all the ages, you call the Church to keep watch in the world and to discern the signs of the times: grant us the wisdom that the Spirit bestows, so that with courage we may proclaim your prophetic word, and complete the work you have set before us; through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A Prayer for our Celebration of Gifts 2022
In your love for this world Lord, renew our understanding of our calling. As you equip us to serve in the world you died to save, refresh our vision and draw us deeper into your ways of renewing the earth. Keep us faithful to the Gospel that brings new life in Christ. By your grace bless all we do as your people to honour the love of Christ here in this Parish, that your Kingdom may be advanced and your grace extend to all with whom you call us to serve, rejoicing in salvation, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Collect for the weekdays of this week:
O God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many and so great dangers that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright: grant us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Spring Newsletter is now available. We encourage you to also take the ‘Spotlight on Teamwork – 2022’ sheet and Faith Promise Card.

Next Sunday (11th) at 6pm we have a service of Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer (1662), followed by a light meal. We invite members of other Parishes to join with us at these services.

Our Celebration of Gifts is on Sunday 18th September. Your ideas can be the key to developing this days to its full potential — how about it! We are looking for further ways that will involve the whole congregation during our worship, and beyond, on this special day in our calendar. Everyone is encouraged to complete our ‘Spotlight on Teamwork – 2022’ sheet. This will assist us to make good use of the human resources available to us as we build for the future ministry of God’s people in this place.
