Our week in India had come to an end. Thanks for joining us on this migration Stay tuned, no doubt there'll be another in the not too distant future.
One Last Venture By Ourselves Our week in India had come to an end. All but four of our group had departed, and we had until 5 p.m. before being taken to the airport. So, what to do? It was hot, so we could spend the time relax…
Our whirlwind visit to India was coming to an end, but you can't visit the subcontinent without seeing the Taj Mahal.
Taj Mahal and the Last Supper Our whirlwind visit to India was coming to an end, but you can’t visit the subcontinent without seeing the Taj Mahal. You don’t need us to tell you it’s amazing, beautiful and inc…
We were on the move again. Another six-hour drive to travel the 230 or so kilometres. As always, the start of our journey included a cultural lesson - which I'll now (potentially) bore you with. You're welcome! Contemporary religions. While just about everyone in the world would have heard about Buddhism, very few have heard of its contemporary, Jainism. From the very little we understand about it, there aren't many differences between Jainism and Buddhism....

Jaipur- the Pink City - is the capital of Rajasthan. With a population of 4 million, it covers 446 square kilometres and is one of the richest states. We started with a visit to Amber Fort. The ancient cobbled roads were too narrow for a modern bus, so we jumped into jeeps to navigate around cows, dogs, and people. Once we arrived, we ran the gauntlet through the hawkers....

It was time to leave indelible Delhi and head to Jaipur, 260 ish kilometres away. Our Australian brains calculated a trip time of about three hours, maybe a little more with obligatory stops. Yeah, nah! Try seven hours! It took two hours just to get out of Delhi. As we travelled, our Google bubba, Nadim, educated us. Apartment living is the way to go....

It always intrigues me when my thinking starts with, 'Oh, this should be nice'. It usually ends being anything but nice. It may exceed expectations, be disturbing or just leave me disappointed. The day's itinerary was a tour of old and new Delhi. Nice. Breakfast at the hotel was...vast. Such an array of food! Curries, rice, bircher muesli, fruit, eggs, bacon, curd (yoghurt), and a bunch of things we couldn't identify....

The day started at 4 am and included a 1 hour 20 minute drive to airport, 3 hours of faffing about with check ins, customs checks and waiting around for our 9:15 flight from Melbourne to Singapore. Not much to report other than breakfast, which consisted of the most leathery, un-soft croissant that near broke teeth and a glass of Prosecco....

Never too early And so the adventure begins... Next stop, Singapore, then Delhi.

We're migrating again! It's been seven months since our winter migration to Europe. However, we were home barely a month when an offer too good to refuse came along. My (Maz) hubby saw an eight day tour to India in the Sunday newspaper. At first, I said, "Nah, that's too good to be true." This is roughly how the convo went....
