Had the pleasure of being a part of this huge job, the team at Every battery Launceston supplying some of the Victron gear, I travelled onsite to do the 24v wiring side and make sure it’s all programmed and operating as it should! With enough power to keep half of Hobart powered up there will be endless ice creams for everyone 👌

Lithium cops a lot of flack being “unsafe”. Recent updates with AS/NZS.3001.2:2022 are designed to help reduce and prevent this kind of thing happening. Lithium is perfectly safe for use inside a habitable area IF it’s wired and designed to the new above standards and the lithium meets the IEC62619 certification. Without going down the rabbit hole of install requirements, lithium is a safe and extremely efficient energy storage solution in terms of weight, energy and cost. If you have an older, newer or even brand spanker caravan, motor home, camper etc and are thinking of upgrading the 12v side of things, get in touch 👌

This is what happens when you have a short, and the fuse protecting the circuit is rated far too high for the wiring 😳 the smoke was released. Super tight spot to make repairs!

Just a heads up, Hobart Auto Electrics is a one man show. I’m currently booked for roughly 2 weeks + in advanced. A quick solar upgrade for this Zone caravan, the original 6 panels had pretty well all failed bar 1, so with 660w of solar getting 2.3A max is a complete waste. Removed and replaced with Victron mono 175w, 140w and 110w panels with 25 year warranty! Adding different size panels is possible but can reduce the efficiency, so a few calculations are needed. In an ideal sunlight situation this set up is 766w / 40.35A and 98.02% efficient! Making use of all available roof space worked perfectly.

Being a bit of an off grid, solar, lithium kinda nerd and spending my free time researching, testing, learning and gaining knowledge, I’ve been lucky enough to be apart of PowerPaul Australia’s install network. PowerPaul is a small Australian business who manufactures some high end, high spec quality lithium deep cycle battery’s, ranging from slimline to large 12v and 24v with large capacity - certainly one of the best available on the market!

The last two months have been so bloody flat stick, here’s just a peep what some days bring. With a few huge jobs underway and almost complete - stay tuned 👌

What’s better than 220ah of lithium? Pulling it out and replacing with 600ah of Australian made lithium 😍 no more issues with running out of power!
