We were recently asked, “What makes a good Voice Demo?” Creating demos or (a voice reel) is something we do for professional voiceover artists and those keen to get into the industry. Here’s 5 points to remember when compiling a voice demo. 1. Aim for about 90 seconds in duration - 2mins tops (directors and producers are keen to listen 2. Highlight a variety of styles, energy levels and characters 3. Make each segment short and sharp (5-15sec) 4. Minimal production elements – they want to hear YOUR VOICE. Don’t clutter it with too much music and sound effects. 5. And… Have a quick personal intro “Hi I’m… and here’s some samples of my voiceovers”. It’s a good chance for clients to hear the ‘real’ you. Don’t make it ‘voiceovery’ (yes, that’s the official term). Remember these tips If you want a good V/O demo or reel.
