yesterday i got back to my usual 🤎🤎 this is a little snippet of me covering “what’s up” by 4 non blondes

A new original song I wrote...
"An Ode to the Dreamer in Me"

his hollywood smile won't ever get him out if this town by a mile,
because he grew up poor.
and my talent and opportunities won't ever do anything for me,
because I don't have the stamina to leave home.

and the stars are the only witness to a lonely dreamer's heart.
and I'm sure we'll find a day job in some corporation and we will start,
a family, take a mortgage out for a town house,
and the only art we'll make is the fake smiles we paint on our face when our old friends ask how we're going today,

oh how I wish that I was oil paint,
so I had grit and so that I stayed,
but instead I'm watercolour,
bleeding beautiful cascades.

and my heart has a rhythm that I just can't write to,
it's like I know the way to everyone's home just not mine.

and I've realised one thing-
that most dreams just stay dreams.
so as I strike the final chord,
I write an ode,
to the dreamer in me.

and maybe I'll try and sketch my future,
though most of the page will be grey,
and maybe I'll try and add some colour,
but don't all colours someday fade?

and the stars will be our only witness,
cos we only show our true selves in the dark,
and I'm sure that we'll be happy,
just not in the way that I thought.

cos I'm sequins- only pretty from a distance,
like when the yuletide passes and the christmas lights are taken down,

but I keep falling in love with people from afar,
and I'd give an eternity just to have you standing next to me.

Diamond Eyes ~ an original • I wrote this song a while ago about the world and how anxious and helpless it can make someone feel. As a teenager, I have sometimes felt that my emotions and opinions about the world have been invalidate or misunderstood. It's easy to get super stressed with everything that's happening around us, so stay safe and make sure you're checking up on people around you and of course yourself too!

My awesome Uncle lent me a guitar to try out...so I put the uke down for a bit and learnt my 1st song on guitar!🙂

⭐don't be afraid of being a beginner⭐
I come from a family that loves listening to music but besides singing at church and Mum singing at the occasional karaoke bar, I haven't had much exposure to music.
I don't have any practical musical knowledge. I can't read music. I don't know the names of notes. I haven't learnt to play an instrument or had any singing lessons....but from a little girl I have always loved to sing and make up my own little songs. I would also drag family members to the lounge room and force them to watch me be theatrical (if you know me, I can be pretty theatrical😜)
Just over a year ago, for my 14th birthday, I received a ukulele...I spent that whole entire day youtubing basics how to play. By the end of that day, I had a pretty rough 1st cover song "Riptide"

Don't compare yourself to others because each journey is different and uniquely beautiful!
***I am now having ukulele lessons and more recently have started singing lessons!
